How do I use a linq query to update the underlying database table

How do I use a linq query to update the underlying database table

With these it helps I'm using a strongly typed dataset and I will show my pseudo code below. What I'm trying to do is only select only one column value from the database because I believe this will make it faster and update the value if I need to and I have included my update method. What I'm not sure about is how to fill in the blanks and update the value so that it will update correctly. , Try this
code :
var amexQuery = (from c in amexTable
            where c.Date == date
            select c).FirstOrDefault();

amexQuery.AdjustedClose  = newValue
//call to Submit Changes to Update DB Change

it fixes the issue You cannot perform updates with one query. You cannot even do that in SQL, let alone in LinQ. What you need here is a transaction. Within the transaction, You can load both table records into variables, update their values, and commit the transaction.
code :
using (var transaction = new TransactionScope()) {
    try {
        record1 = (from r in myDataContext.Table1s where r.BId == myBid select r).FirstOrDefault();
        record2 = (from r in myDataContext.Table2s where r.BId == myBid select r).FirstOrDefault();

        // Perform your record updates here
        var oldExpense = record2.Expense;
        record2.Expense = newExpense;
        record1.Amount += (newExpense - oldExpense);

        myDataContext.SubmitChanges(); // if an exception occurs here, the transaction is aborted

        transaction.Complete(); // commits the transaction

    } catch (Exception ex) {
        // TODO: Exception handling
    }
}

help you fix your problem Since MyDB is a System.Data.Linq.DataContext, it tracks each object that it loads. Simply acquire an instance from MyDB, set a property's value on that instance, and call MyDB.SubmitChanges

hope this fix your issue Use the same method (or code) used to populate the "right listbox" in the first place. The right ListBox's DataSource will be the same as it was prior to this code snipped being ran, so it must be updated since the underlying data has changed.

To fix this issue I am trying to figure out how to quickly change some stuff in a large wordpress database, doing through the GUI takes forever, i think executing this direclty on the database would be much more efficient as it's a one time thing. , Lets deconstruct your requirement, and build the queries:
code :
SELECT object_id
FROM wp_termrelationships
WHERE term_taxonomy_id = 8232
SELECT *
FROM wp_posts
WHERE ID IN (SELECT object_id
             FROM wp_termrelationships
             WHERE term_taxonomy_id = 8232)
UPDATE wp_posts
SET post_status = 'publish'
WHERE ID IN (SELECT object_id
             FROM wp_termrelationships
             WHERE term_taxonomy_id = 8232)
