hop of those help? It seems that the firewall blocks your connections, so just try to disable the firewall with:
code :
sudo service iptables stop

this one helps. Give this a try, might require some tweaking but I believe it should work as is or at least give you some useful pointers of where are the proxies that need to be unwrapped
code :

//unwrap proxy invocation handler
org.apache.tomcat.jdbc.pool.ProxyConnection tomcatProxy = (ProxyConnection) Proxy.getInvocationHandler(c);

org.apache.tomcat.jdbc.pool.PooledConnection tomcatPooledConnection = tomcatProxy.getConnection(); //if this doesn't work try getDelegateConnection!

Connection connection = tomcatPooledConnection.getConnection();

org.postgresql.jdbc4.Jdbc4Connection jdbc4conn = (org.postgresql.jdbc4.Jdbc4Connection) connection;
jdbc4conn.getLargeObjectAPI();

org.postgresql.ds.jdbc23.AbstractJdbc23PooledConnection psAbstractPooledConn = Proxy.getInvocationHandler(connection.getProxy().getConnection());

Hope this helps Use a short TCP keepalive interval, so the server quickly notices when the client loses its connection.
There isn't really any other way to do it unless you somehow know via a sideband that a client connection is lost - in which case, as you noted, you can look it up in pg_stat_activity and pg_terminate_backend(pid) it.

seems to work fine You're using relative paths, so the location may just be different. If you're right clicking and using "run as admin" it will save the file in c:\windows\system32\Server_Restarts.log. Use absolute paths for log files or save in the same directory as the batch-file, like this:
code :
Time:%TIME%.. >> "%~dp0Server_Restarts.log"

I wish did fix the issue. the challenge is to map the R variable types to proper database types. Today, dbplyr translates as.numeric(), as.double(), as.integer(), and as.character(). Any function that dbplyr doesn't recognize is passed to the database verbatim, that's why the result was as_factor(). I may be wrong, but Redshift does not have factorized variables, so maybe using as.character() is a better option. That the one I use coercing into categorical data when working with databases. I encourage you to use one of the current translations, and avoid using collect(), specially on a very large data set.
