How to validate WS-Federation SAML tokens with Java Service Provider

How to validate WS-Federation SAML tokens with Java Service Provider

I wish this helpful for you I found a great library on github that both handles validation of the SAML Token and if you are feeling adventurous is a good tutorial on how to use OpenSAML. The library is called Auth10-Java and it does a great job of breaking down SAML token validation. FYI it also handles WS-Federation protocol.
code :
Public List<Claim> validateAuthenticationResponse(String yourToken){
    SamlTokenValidator validator = new SamlTokenValidator();

    validator.setThumbprint("thumbprint from the thinktecture idp server or what ever idp you are using");

    validator.getAudienceUris().add(new URI(“http://localhost:8080/javafederationtest”);

    //validator.setValidateExpiration(false); //This can be used to stop validation of the expiration fields in the token.

    List<Claim> claims = validator.validate(yourToken); //A Federation Exception is thrown if the token is invalid

    System.out.println(claims.toString()); //This will show the claims asserted by the token!
}

This might help you This use case is commonly referred to as Service Provider Initiated SSO (SP-Init SSO) in SAML 2.0 and is fairly common. You can find a number of resources that outline the flow a little more succinctly -
http://documentation.pingidentity.com/display/PF70/SP-Initiated+SSO--Redirect-POST#SP-InitiatedSSO--Redirect-POST-1070862 https://developers.google.com/google-apps/sso/saml_reference_implementation Also, see Section 4.1.2 of the SAML 2.0 Tech Overview document - https://www.oasis-open.org/committees/download.php/11511/sstc-saml-tech-overview-2.0-draft-03.pdf

this one helps. Good question!
It's similar to the way a bank will verify the signature on a check; they'll compare a few iterations of the individuals on-file signature, to that of the check being cashed - as long as those match, they can trust that the check was signed by the intended individual.

wish helps you If you need to build a SP in Java I would recommend using Spring SAML module or the OpenSAML library, but these may give you more work. If you end up using OpenSAML I have a book, A Guide to OpenSAML, introducing the SAML and the OpenSAML library.
I also have a blogg with many examples.

This might help you
Depending on what bindings your SAML-IdP and SP server supports, you can choose any combination of binding pair. Typically all major SAML-IdP supports most of binding specified in SAML-spec. Also you have to take security and performance considerations. Artifact is more secure but take two round-trips to complete SAML-Authn process, because it make back-end call communication (unlike POST or Redirect) while sending and receiving SAML messages. If your SAML-IdP and SP server supports binding configuration, then you use those bindings in runtime.
