Hbase scan is returning deleted rows

I wish this help you It has nothing to do with major compactions (they run every ~24 hours by default). When you delete a row the deleted data will be ignored by HBase until finally removed (on major_compactions). Just be noticed that if you don't have the autoflush active you'll have to manually flush your client buffer first by calling htable.flushCommits() (autoflush=on by default).
Your problem it's probably caused because you're only deleting a:date and your row has more columns which are being read and they're passing the filter because that is the default behaviour if no value is present.

Hope this helps The problem is that your scanner is scanning the entire table and throwing away the results that don't match your query. You need to explicitly set a stop row of (securityId + eventType + intervalEnd). If you set a corresponding start row of (securityId + eventType + intervalStart), then you won't need a filter at all and the scan will be efficient no matter the size of your data set.

seems to work fine You can use a RowFilter with a RegexStringComparator. You'd need to come up with a RegEx that filters your dates appropriately. This page has an example that includes setting a Filter for a MapReduce scanner.

this will help The PageFilter doesn't provide any offset functionality, it works just like a limit clause, stopping the scan operation when you have enough data.
It's important to say that HBase doesn't know how many rows a table has, you have to scan the whole table in order to get that count. This alone, among other things, makes impossible to paginate the data (because you don't know the total page count or which is the offset of each row). Don't see it as a drawback, because this have a massive impact when you write tons of data.

wish of those help With TimestampFilter you can get the cell that was written in given time period. If you want entire row, then you will need to do get on that particular rowkey. I dont think this is an efficient way.
I would recommend you to build a TimeSeries table. Can you use timestamp as a Suffix in your rowkey? Have a look at section 6.3.1: http://hbase.apache.org/0.94/book/rowkey.design.html

With these it helps Issue was resolved
by setting same hbase.server.scanner.max.result.size and hbase.client.scanner.max.result.size in hbase-site.xml
