this one helps. Yes, iOS provides a way to do this - use dispatch_once function, and provide a block that performs initialization:
code :
-(CGFloat)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView heightForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath
{
    static dispatch_once_t onceToken;
    dispatch_once(&onceToken, ^{
        defaultHeight = self.view.frame.size.height > 480 ? 38 : 32;
    });
    return indexPath.row == 0 ? 20 : defaultHeight;
}

should help you out I have a loop that takes a long time for each iteration, and I would like to see the progress of it in real time. How do I print a variable inside a for loop to the console in real time, as the loop is running? Each of these print everything after the loop is finished, which is useless for me: , The last one does print in real time, try it like this:
code :
for(i in 1:10){
  Sys.sleep(0.1)
  print(i)
}
for(i in 1:10){
  Sys.sleep(0.1)
  print(i)
  flush.console()
}
n<- 1000
pb <- txtProgressBar(min = 0, max = n, style = 3) #text based bar
for(i in 1:n){
   Sys.sleep(0.001)
   setTxtProgressBar(pb, i)
}
close(pb)
library(tcltk)
n<- 1000
pb <- tkProgressBar(title = "Doing something", min = 0, max = n, width = 200)
for(i in 1:n){
   Sys.sleep(0.001)
   setTkProgressBar(pb, i, label=paste(round(i/n*100,1),"% done"))
}
close(pb)

I hope this helps you . One Solution it to put the work in an asynchronous function. It will only loop round when the current work has completed. In theory this should work.
Jquery
code :
    $(document).ready(function() {

     /// the Assync function.

    var asyncFor = function(params) {

        var defaults = {
          total: 0,
          limit: 1,
          pause: 10,
          context: this
        },
          options = $.extend(defaults, params),
          def = $.Deferred(),
          step = 0,
          done = 0;

        this.loop = function() {
          if (done < options.total) {
            step = 0;
            for (; step < options.limit; step += 1, done += 1) {
              def.notifyWith(options.context, [done]);
            }
            setTimeout.apply(this, [this.loop, options.pause]);
          } else {
            def.resolveWith(options.context);
          }
        };

        setTimeout.apply(this, [this.loop, options.pause]);
        return def;
      };

    /// You do your work here

var totalSize=0;
var currTotalSize=0;
//files infos
totalSize=getXMLData(xml,'XML.FILES-SIZE');
var files = getXMLData(xml,'XML.FILES.FILE.FILE-PATH');
var filesSizes = getXMLData(xml,'XML.FILES.FILE.FILE-SIZE');

    asyncFor({
      total: files.length,
      context: this
    }).progress(function(step) {

    var appletReturn = $("#applet")[0].copyFiles(files[step]);

    currTotalSize+=parseInt(filesSizes[step]);

    var percentage=calcPercentage(currTotalSize, totalSize);

    $('#progress-bar-count').text(percentage+'%');

    $('#progress-bar-count').css('width', percentage+'%');

     }).done(function() {

    alert("finished")

    });

    });
Running a different method each time through a loop

Does that help My goal is to cut down on code by running this code through a loop , you can use reflection for this scenario,
code :
string[] methodNames = new string{}["ones","twos",....];
for(string method : methodNames)
{
    Method method = this.getClass().getMethod(dice_values.getClass());
    each_score = method.Invoke(this,dice_values);
    total_score += each_score;
    end_scores += String.valueOf(each_score) + " ";
}

I wish did fix the issue. There is a straightforward way to determine the big-O complexity of this algorithm. The + operation on line 5 is executed at least as many times as anything else in the code, so if we can count how many times + is done, then that will be the same as the complexity of the whole algorithm. This is sound because everything else is a basic operation, except the line Y = [None] * len(X // 2), which does not have a higher complexity than the loop with the + in.
Since the algorithm computes the sum of the numbers in the list, and does not add anything except numbers from the list (or partial sums of numbers from the list), there are a total of len(X) - 1 additions done, and therefore the algorithm is O(n) where n is the length of the input list.
Recursive function inside a simple loop time complexity

hope this fix your issue Why is it that inside a for loop and calling a recursive function results to the time complexity of O(2^N) not O(N 2^N) of this code below. Basing on the book CTCI. , Think of your recursive function as computing values in a tree.
code :
        fib(n)
         /\
        /  \
 fib(n-1)   fib(n-2)
