around this issue you have a php syntax error - you should turn on php errors btw...
Anyway this line:
code :
  echo '<img src="get_field('certain_image')">';
 echo '<img src="', get_field('certain_image'), '">';
 echo '<img src="'. get_field('certain_image'). '">';

like below fixes the issue I am assuming that you have all drawables in your drawable folder for imageview.
See the below implementation I have done in my app. First take Imageview array and int array with length of number of images you have.
code :
ImageView i[]=new ImageView[49];
int id[]={R.drawable.pic1,......,R.drawable.pic40};
ArrayList<Integer> ranArr = new ArrayList<Integer>();
for(int i=0;i<(40);i++)
{
    ranArr.add(i);
}
Collections.shuffle(ranArr);
for(int i=0;i<25;i++)
    {
        i[i]=(ImageView)findViewById(id[ranArr.get[i]);
    }

Hope this helps You are not checking if the image is in the same position or not. Try something like this:
code :
// Download the image from the url stored in the database
private class DownloadImageTask extends AsyncTask<String, Void, Bitmap> {
    ImageView bmImage;
    int position;

    public DownloadImageTask(ImageView bmImage, int position) {
        this.bmImage = bmImage;
        this.position = position;
        ivPic.setTag(position);
        bmImage.setImageBitmap(null);
    }

    @Override
    protected Bitmap doInBackground(String... urls) {
        String urldisplay = urls[0];
        Bitmap mIcon11 = null;
        InputStream in = null;

            try {
                in = new java.net.URL(urldisplay).openStream();

                // Log.d("IMAGEURL","DIT - Url: " + urldisplay);

                mIcon11 = BitmapFactory.decodeStream(in);
                in.close();
            }
            catch (Exception e)
            {
                Log.e("Error", e.getMessage());
                e.printStackTrace();
            }

        return mIcon11;
    }

    @Override
    protected void onPostExecute(Bitmap result) {
        super.onPostExecute(result);
        if(result != null && ((Integer)getTag) == this.position)
        bmImage.setImageBitmap(result);
    }
}

This might help you What you're talking about is called CSS sprites. http://css-tricks.com/css-sprites/ This page should have all the info you need. Basically, yes, it is faster -- there are fewer HTTP requests to slow the page down.
Here's a previous answer on the same subject that goes into more detail. https://stackoverflow.com/a/8050216/4317628

it helps some times You are doing an asynchronous operation inside a loop which rarely work as intended.
JavaScript is single-threaded which means the code inside the onload handler won't be called before the loop finish, hence i will always be the last image.
code :
img[i] = new Image();
...

img[i].onload = function() {
  // at the time this gets called, the loop has finished

  // these need to be here as image won't have width/height until fully loaded
  var canvas = document.createElement("canvas");
  var ctx = canvas.getContext("2d");
  canvas.width = this.width;
  canvas.height = this.height;

  ctx.drawImage(this, 0,0);   // use this (= actual image loaded)
  // append canvas to DOM here etc....
}

img[i].src = FILE_DIR+"/"+imgJPGList[i];

wish of those help As far as I have understood, you want to show the first 10 images first and then the next ten images when you reach the end of sliding down to the 10th image.
If I have understood the problem correctly you need to use RecyclerView to show the images and modify your CustomArticleAdapter.java a bit with having a pageNumber variable in it. So the modified adapter will look something like the following.
code :
public class CustomArticleAdapter extends BaseAdapter {

    Context context;
    ArrayList<HashMap<String, String>> article;
    LayoutInflater layoutInflater;
    int pageNumber;

    public CustomArticleAdapter(Context context, ArrayList<HashMap<String, String>> article) {
        this.context = context;
        this.article = article;
        layoutInflater = (LayoutInflater) context.getSystemService(Context.LAYOUT_INFLATER_SERVICE);
        this.pageNumber = 0;   // Initialize the page number with 0
    }

    // Add a method to set the page number in the adapter
    public void setPageNumber(int pageNumber) {
        this.pageNumber = pageNumber;
    }

    @Override
    public int getCount() {
        // You need to modify the getCount function to handle the newly introduced pageNumber
        int articleSize = article.size();

        if(10 * pageNumber > articleSize) return articleSize;
        else return 10 * pageNumber;
    }

    // ... Other functions are not needed to be changed
}
public int pageNumber = 0;
private boolean loading = true;
int pastVisiblesItems, visibleItemCount, totalItemCount;

mRecyclerView.addOnScrollListener(new RecyclerView.OnScrollListener() {
    @Override
    public void onScrolled(RecyclerView recyclerView, int dx, int dy) {
        if(dy > 0) {
             // Check for scroll down
            visibleItemCount = mLayoutManager.getChildCount();
            totalItemCount = mLayoutManager.getItemCount();
            pastVisiblesItems = mLayoutManager.findFirstVisibleItemPosition();

            if (loading) {
                if ( (visibleItemCount + pastVisiblesItems) >= totalItemCount) {
                    loading = false;
                    Log.v("...", "Last image reached");
                    // Set the pageNumber here.
                    adapter.setPageNumber(pageNumber + 1);
                    pageNumber += 1;
                    adapter.notifyDataSetChanged();
                }
            }
        }
    }
});
