Are there programmable automount/autofs hooks in linux/systemd?

around this issue Autofs itself can run a custom script or program to dynamically provide "the map", i.e. the mount options and arguments autofs uses for mounting.
As an example, to automount home directories from an NFS-server one may prefer to use a pattern like "/home/user12/user123456" for the homedir paths to limit the number of sub-directories on a server when there are many users.
code :
/home    program:/usr/local/sbin/autofs-home-mapper.sh
#!/bin/bash
echo "-fstype=nfs4,relatime nfs.example.com:/exported/${1%????}/${1}"
-fstype=nfs4,relatime nfs.example.com:/exported/joh/johndoe

dependency   optional_all/none svc:/network/nfs/client (disabled)
dependency   require_all/restart svc:/network/rpc/bind (disabled)
svcadm enable svc:/network/rpc/bind
svcadm enable svc:/network/nfs/client

This might help you It turns out that a few more steps are needed to configure the automount for shared folders of virtualbox. This tiny forum post was the key. You need to enable and start the virtualbox service vboxservice.service installed with the guest utils.
First ensure you have a folder /media, this is where it will try to mount your shared folders Ensure that the guest utils are installed with sudo pacman -Q virtualbox-guest-utils Enable service with sudo systemctl enable vboxservice.service Start service with sudo systemctl start vboxservice.service Reboot, I tried just logging out but reboot was necessary for me to start the service

may help you . Use a regular file, but memory map it. That way, the second process can access it just as easily as the first. The OS caching will take care of keeping the "hot" parts of the file in RAM.
Update, based on your mention of NFS. Look for caching settings in Linux, increase them to be very, very aggressive, so the kernel caches and avoids writing back to disk (or NFS) as much as possible.

Any of those help Problem: I have CentOS 7 Linux VM with cifs installed. I added a mount point using autofs where the whole idea was to automatically mount a network share every time VM boots. However, when I run this command: , for CentOS 7:
systemctl enable autofs
