around this issue I have to convert json Strings like this , If your keys are unique – you can use the next code
code :
String s = "{\"Tue Jan 13 00:00:00 MEZ 2015\":2131165194,\"Mon Jan 12 00:00:00 MEZ 2015\":2131165194,\n" +
            "\"Thu Dec 11 00:00:00 MEZ 2014\":2131165194,\"Fri Dec 12 00:00:00 MEZ 2014\":2131165194,\n" +
            "\"Mon Jan 19 00:00:00 MEZ 2015\":2131165194,\"Wed Dec 10 00:00:00 MEZ 2014\":2131165194,\n" +
            "\"Mon Jan 05 00:00:00 MEZ 2015\":2131165194}";
    Map<Date, Long> map = new GsonBuilder().setDateFormat("E MMM dd HH:mm:ss 'MEZ' yyyy").create().fromJson(s, new TypeToken<HashMap<Date, Long>>() {

hope this fix your issue How about storing the whole object as a file via ObjectOutputStream? Something like:
code :
public static void saveObject(HashMap<String, HashMap<Integer, ArrayList<Integer>>> obj, String filePath)
    OutputStream os = null;
        os = new ObjectOutputStream(new FileOutputStream(filePath));
    catch(Exception ex){}
public static HashMap<String, HashMap<Integer, ArrayList<Integer>>> loadObject(String filePath)
    HashMap<String, HashMap<Integer, ArrayList<Integer>>> obj = null;
    InputStream is = null;
        is = new ObjectInputStream(new FileInputStream(filePath));
        obj = (HashMap<String, HashMap<Integer, ArrayList<Integer>>>) is.readObject();
    catch(Exception ex){}
    return obj;

With these it helps Your genre map can contains multiple genres, so you have to iterate over the keys :
code :
    genre = genreList.get(count);
    for (String g : genre.keySet()) {
      if (genres.contains(g)) {
        // Now get the ARGB value associated with the genre
        argbColor = genre.get(g);
        return argbColor;

help you fix your problem I want to create Expandable List view for filter and i am storing check box status of every group into HashMap .but after apply filter first time and again going for the filter i am not able to retain state of check box.I want to store it into shared preference . can any one suggest how to do it. , Inserting Into Shared Pref,
code :
 HashMap<Integer, boolean[]> hashmapB = new Hashmap<>;
JSONObject jsonObject = new JSONObject(hashmapB);
String jsonString = jsonObject.toString();

SharedPreferences keyValues = getSharedPreferences("Your_Shared_Prefs"), Context.MODE_PRIVATE);
SharedPreferences.Editor editor = keyValues.edit();
String hashmapB_String = Sellerregistration_Pref.getString("hashmapB_key",
                (new JSONObject()).toString());
HashMap<Integer,boolean[]>hashmapB_Ret = new HashMap<>();

try {
    JSONObject jsonObject = new JSONObject(hashmapB_String);
    Iterator<String> keysItr = jsonObject.keys();
    while(keysItr.hasNext()) {
          String key = keysItr.next();
          boolean[] values = (boolean[]) jsonObject.get(key);
          hashmapB_Ret.put(Integer.valueOf(key), value);
 } catch (JSONException e) {

Does that help See below, it should solve your problem if I understood your problem correctly
Iterate all clients Add if year map doesn't contain it Else get the existing entry from yearmap Add month map with iteration counter as latest value
code :
for (int i = 1; i <=clientList.size() ; i++) {

     if (!clientsByYear.containsKey(year)) {
            HashMap<Integer, Integer> clientByMonth = new HashMap<>();
            clientByMonth.put(month, i);
            clientsByYear.put(year, clientByMonth);
        } else {
            HashMap<Integer, Integer> clientByMonth = clientsByYear.get(year);
            clientByMonth.put(month, i);

Does that help The underlying HashMap would be restricted to ArrayLists, but the reference would allow you to add any kind of list. What if you tried to add a LinkedList to the HashMap?
Probably, you just need to make a HashMap of List:
