this will help You can achieve this using the modelFor methid for accessing to the parent model in your current route.
code :
export default Ember.Route.extend({
    model: function() {
        return this.modelFor('settings').get('id');
    }
});

wish help you to fix your issue After more research and trials I was able to figure it out.
The following route will work to accept a URL like this:
code :
Router::connect(
        '/article/:year/:month/:day/:slug',
        array(
              'controller' => 'articles',
              'action' => 'view'
        ),
        array(
            'pass' => array('slug')
        )
    );

I hope this helps . You could get rid of that .set is not a function error by using global Ember.set.
So, instead of:
code :
parentModel.coverageId = params.coverageId;
Ember.set(parentModel, 'coverageId', params.coverageId);

will be helpful for those in need So finally I came up with a Middleware:
App\Http\Middleware\CheckSlug
code :
public function handle($request, Closure $next)
{
    if ($redirect = RouteSlug::checkRedirect(Route::currentRouteName(), $request->location->id, $request->location->slug, $request->slug))
    {
        return redirect($redirect);
    }

    return $next($request);
}
Route::get('locations/{slug}.{location}', ['as' => 'locations.show', 'uses' => 'LocationsController@show'])->where([
    'location' => '[0-9]+',
    'slug' => '[a-z0-9-]+'
])->middleware(App\Http\Middleware\CheckSlug::class);

I hope this helps you . You could add a pattern to your route, where the terms contact-us and about are excluded, like this:
code :
$router->get('/{slug}','SomeController@about')
    ->where('slug', '^((?!about|contact-us).)*$')
    ->name('general-page');

will be helpful for those in need I would recommend that you take a look at the Route Debugger tool (MVC 3/.NET 4) that you can get from NuGet. This should provide the relevant diagnostics that you would/will need to see what was generated and what routes were matched/why none were matched.
For previous versions, take a look at the Phil Haack tool that was created for Route Debugging.
