Does that help I've seen this problem before in the following context.
Suppose that you have an application A with a dependency on library B. You have two jars: A-1.0.jar and B-1.0.jar. A-1.0.jar is compiled using B-1.0.jar.
code :
public void foo() { ... }
public int foo() { ... }

To fix the issue you can do A crosspost of this question has been answered on the iText mailing list. To close the question here, too, that answer is copied here:
The issue can be reproduced with iText 5.4.3 but not with the current development snapshot. The OP, therefore, should update his iText version.

should help you out You are developing on Android. This means you need the Android port of iText, which is called iTextG. iTextG is identical to iText (same code base), except for anything that uses AWT and some other stuff that isn't available on Android.
You can find iTextG on the iText website: http://developers.itextpdf.com/itextg-android
