hop of those help? I'm new to android and trying to learn some basic stuff, My problem is if i paste this line android:layout_gravity="center" in the default "activity_main.xml" file I'm getting the error in the title but if I delete the line the error disappears! , Your error is simple

this will help I see two typos:
You've spelled xmlns as xlmns on the EditText element. The penultimate use of the android prefix is spelled androud

android spelling is wrong andriod that why Attribute is missing the Android namespace prefix in this andriod:hint="@string/edit_message" line

tutorial told me to do its a file called attr in the values folder. in the i dont know why but i put it there
