I hope this helps you . If all you're trying to do is run a Sails controller action via sockets, then you don't need to emit anything at all. Part of Sails' charm is that it can route regular, HTTP-style requests over sockets. So if you have a controller /api/controllers/FooController.js like:
code :
module.exports = {

    bar: function (req, res) {

        // Note, you can check whether this was a socket request
        // with req.isSocket, and if so access the connecting
        // socket with req.socket

        res.json({"message": "Hello!"});

    }

}
socket.get('/foo/bar', function(data) {
    // data will contain {message:"hello"}
}
onConnect: function (socket, session) {

    socket.on('some_event', function(data) {
        // handle event here
    });

}

To fix the issue you can do while the email validation rule fails on module of the sails.js, the server is crashing. Here the snippet of my module: // The user's email address , The correct way to declare an email field is like this :
code :
email: {
  type: 'email',
  required: true,//Email field will be required for insert or update
  unique: true //Insert or update will crash if you try to insert duplicate email
},
MyModel.create({email:email}).exec(function(err, model)
{
     if(err)
     {
       //Check if it's a validation error or a crash
       if(err.code == "E_VALIDATION")
         sails.log.debug("valid fail, check form");
       else
         sails.log.debug("crash");
     }
     else
     {
       //do what you want to do with the data
     }
});

Any of those help If you want to send the image back from the server to the client, you should use SignalR (or another framework/library which implements websockets). The other way is to request the image from the server, but you have to be sure that the webserver has finished processing the image.

Hope this helps On Node JS server convert the get api method to fetch the image path from Mongo Db and return the byte array of the image.
code :
// To get the single image/File using id from the MongoDB
app.get('/images/:id', function(req, res) {

        //calling the function from index.js class using routes object..
        routes.getImageById(req.params.id, function(err, genres) {
             if (err) {
                 throw err;
             }
             //res.download(genres.path);
             var fs = require('fs');
             // read binary data
             var bitmap = fs.readFileSync(genres.path);
             // convert binary data to base64 encoded string
             //res.send(new Buffer(bitmap).toString('base64'));
             genres.path = new Buffer(bitmap).toString('base64');

             res.send(genres)
           });
});
  <img ng-src="{{'data:image/png;charset=utf-8;base64,' + response.data.path}}">

This might help you Datauri npm is used to take the data uri from buffer object to display the image.
https://www.npmjs.com/package/datauri
code :
const Datauri = require('datauri'),
const datauri = new Datauri();

//...
const buffer = data.SuperintendentsSignature; // Buffer data
//...

datauri.format('.png', buffer);

console.log(datauri.content); //=> "data:image/png;base64,eGtjZA=="
console.log(datauri.mimetype); //=> "image/png"
console.log(datauri.base64); //=> "eGtjZA=="
console.log(datauri.getCSS({
  class: "myClass",
  width: true,
  height: true
})); //=> adds image width and height and custom class name
