wish help you to fix your issue I am currently working on the following program, trying to change an ArrayList of Double to a String one and then display the substring(3,11) of each element of the String Array.
code :
string.substring(3,11);
if(string.length > 3)
    string.substring(3, (string.length -1));

wish helps you This will probably be a problem with namespacing or with pathing.
Please post some example XML, then we can try to help.

this will help This is pretty easy. You already have your callback function, waiting for the result.
Now instead of returning the result as html as you currently do, return it as JSON, so you can easily evaluate it on clientside. Include your necessary queueCodes in the elseif{...} of your php-code.
code :
your json = { success : 0|1 , resultarray [item,item] /* only if success=1 */ , someMoreInfo : <queueCode> }

if ( success ){
     // populate your html with the resulting items
}
else{
     //perhaps wait some time, then
     // call your ajax function again, with your queuecode as parameter
     dosubmit( json.someMoreInfo );
}
return{
   object
}
// returns the object
return // comiler will add a ; after your return, thus your object won't be returned
{
   object
}

hope this fix your issue After further experimentation I found two solutions. One was to place the query inside a simple stored procedure such as:
code :
CREATE PROCEDURE sp_Test
AS
BEGIN
    SET NOCOUNT ON;
    SELECT SequenceNo,dbo.GetFuelRefill(AssetID,FuelLeft) AS Refill
        FROM TestTable ORDER BY SequenceNo
END
const DatabaseName = "MyDB"
const DatabaseServer = "(local)"
const adOpenForwardOnly = 0
const adLockOptimistic = 3
const adUseClient = 3
Dim FSO : set FSO = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject")
Dim Conn : Set Conn = CreateObject("ADODB.Connection")
Conn.Open "Provider=SQLOLEDB.1;Integrated Security=SSPI;Initial Catalog=" & DatabaseName & ";Server=" & DatabaseServer
Set Query = CreateObject("ADODB.Recordset")
Query.CursorLocation = adUseClient
Query.Open "SELECT SequenceNo,dbo.GetFuelRefill(AssetID,FuelLeft) AS Refill FROM TestTable ORDER BY SequenceNo", Conn, adOpenForwardOnly, adLockOptimistic
Set f = FSO.CreateTextFile("E:\Temp\Test.TXT", true)
do while not Query.EOF
    f.WriteLine Query("SequenceNo") & ", " & Query("Refill")
    Query.MoveNext
loop
Set FSO = Nothing
Query.Close
Conn.Close

it fixes the issue The third argument for substr should be a string length but not the end position
code :
$i = strpos($str, 'combination');
echo substr($str, $i, strpos($str, 'content') - $i);

seems to work fine Say I have a function which takes two vectors and returns a single integer, for instance the number of elements in one that is also in the other vector. Like:
code :
sapply(1:3, function(i) sapply(1:3, function(j) f(m[,i], m[,j])))
#     [,1] [,2] [,3]
#[1,]    5    1    3
#[2,]    1    5    3
#[3,]    3    3    5
sapply(data.frame(m), function(x1) sapply(data.frame(m), function(x2) f(x1, x2)))
#   c1 c2 c3
#c1  5  1  3
#c2  1  5  3
#c3  3  3  5
