I hope this helps you . You're incorrectly concatenating your JavaScript string with PHP content. Change
code :
var col6html = "<td width='200'><select name='playerID'><option selected>---- Select Player ---</option>" . <?php while ($trpRow=mysql_fetch_array($trpResult)) {extract($trpRow); echo '<option value=$playerID>$lastName, $firstName</option>' ;}?> . "</select></td>";
<?php
$options = "";
while ($trpRow=mysql_fetch_array($trpResult)) {
    extract($trpRow);
    $options .=  "<option value=\"$playerID\">$lastName, $firstName</option>" ;
}
?>
var col6html = "<td width='200'><select name='playerID'>"+
                  "<option selected>---- Select Player ---</option>" +
                  <?php echo json_encode($options) ?>  +
               "</select></td>";

This might help you x is a global variable. You've incremented it to 6 by the time the first alert happens. If you don't want that to happen, use something like this instead, which increments inside the function that is called every 500ms:
code :
var x = 0;
var interval = setInterval(function() {
    alert("Loop iteration #" + x++);
    if(x==5) {
        clearInterval(interval);
        alert("Code to be executed after completing loop");
    }
}, 500);

wish help you to fix your issue My initial guess, since it really is unclear what you are doing, and from what you said there will be multiple scripts on the same page is that you are declaring global variables for time and then manipulating them in a function. Example
code :
var a = 1;

function b(){
    a = a--; /*And other magic math */
}

function c(){
    a = a++; /*And other magic math */
}

b(); c();

/* What does a =? */

/* TRY */
function b(){
    var a = <?php echo $var; ?>
    a = /* Do stff with a */
}
function c(){
    var a = <?php echo $var; ?>
    a = /* Do stff with a */
}

I think the issue was by ths following , If your requirement is to move the enemy once every second, no need for that to be inside the frame loop.
code :
var enemyMoverInterval = setInterval(
    function moveEnemy() {
        enemy.xPosition += '30px';
    }
}, 1000);
var enemyLastMoved = new Date();
GameLoop = {
    // ...
    function frame() {
        // ....
        if (now - enemyLastMoved > 1000) {
            enemy.xPosition += '30px';
            enemyLastMoved += 1000;
        }
        // ...
var enemyMustMove = false;
setInterval(function() {
    enemyMustMove = true;
}, 1000);
        // ....
        if (enemyMustMove) {
            enemyMustMove = false;
            enemy.xPosition += '30px';
        }

hope this fix your issue There was an answer here that was deleted, that helped me solve the problem.
Is this the most efficient and proper way to do this?
code :
var eduWidths = [415.66, 116.13];

function eduResize(j,el){
            var edu = document.getElementById(el);
            console.log("j: "+j+" , el: "+ el +" , eduWidths[j]: "+eduWidths[j]);
            $(edu).animate({width: eduWidths[j]+'px'}, 500);
        }

for(i=0; i<edus.length; i++){
var edu = document.getElementById('edu'+i);

            edu.addEventListener("mouseover",function(){
                //this.style.width = "400px";
                $(this).animate({width:'400px'}, 500);
                //console.log("this.id: "+ this.id);
            });

            edu.addEventListener('mouseleave', (function iife(currentJ) {
              return function() {
                eduResize(currentJ, this.id);
              };
            })(i)); // <-- here you pass j, which will become currentJ inside the iife

 }//end loop

it helps some times
Is there a way to pause the execution of the for-loop before the next iteration?
code :
const delay = (ms, ...args) => new Promise(resolve => setTimeout(resolve, ms, ...args);

// ...
for (let i = whatever; i < whateverElse; i += something) {
    // Do the thing, then
    await delay(1000);
}
