will help you ListBox has an Items property that you can add and remove elements from.
code :
listBox.Items.Add("new item");

listBox.Items.Remove("old item");
if (listBox.Items.Contains(searchvalue)) {
  listBox.Items.Remove(searchValue);
}

wish help you to fix your issue Your implementation scans the list twice, so it is suboptimal.
I don't think you can write what you need without an explicit loop (or, equivalently, recursion):
code :
(defun pop-from-list (object list &key (key #'identity) (test #'eql) kept)
  "Like `remove', but return the object removed as the second value."
  (let ((1st (car list)))
    (if (funcall test object 1st)
        (values (revappend kept (rest list))
                1st)
        (pop-from-list object (rest list) :key key :test test
                       :kept (cons 1st kept)))))
(defun find-remove-third (x)
  (multiple-value-bind (list object)
      (pop-from-list x *test-list* :key #'third)
    (setq *test-list* list)
    object))

I think the issue was by ths following , I have had some trouble making sure I am really testing the code you actually want help with. But I think I have seen enough to understand what the problem you are having is.
Specifically: you don't have any connection between the ListView where the items are displayed, and the private MyList collection where you are storing the items.
code :
public MainPage()
{
    this.InitializeComponent();

    DataContext = MyList;
}

private ObservableCollection<MyClass> MyList = new ObservableCollection<MyClass>();

private void Button_Click(object sender, Windows.UI.Xaml.RoutedEventArgs e)
{
    MyList.Add(new MyClass("Hello", "World"));
}
<ListView x:Name="MyListview"
          HorizontalAlignment="Left" VerticalAlignment="Top"
          Height="497" Width="510"
          Margin="143,261,0,0"
          ItemsSource="{Binding}"/>

it should still fix some issue You don't need streams for this task, especially if you want to mutate the list of friends in-place:
code :
students.forEach(s -> s.getFriends().removeAll(badKids));
void removeBadKids(List<String> badKids) {
    friends.removeAll(badKids);
}
students.forEach(s -> s.removeBadKids(badKids));

Does that help I found a way, i'll post it in order to help others. I had to change the list view to a recycle view and used this command.
code :
onView(withId(R.id.list))
                .perform(RecyclerViewActions.actionOnItem(
                        hasDescendant(withText("Your string")), click()));
androidTestImplementation("com.android.support.test.espresso:espresso-contrib:2.2.2") {
    exclude group: 'com.android.support', module: 'appcompat'
    exclude group: 'com.android.support', module: 'support-v4'
    exclude group: 'com.android.support', module: 'support-v7'
    exclude group: 'com.android.support', module: 'design'
    exclude module: 'support-annotations'
    exclude module: 'recyclerview-v7'
}

may help you . There is other working answers, but none of them explain your actual problem. you were actually really close of a valid solution and what is, in my opinion, the most readable answer.
The error came from the fact that you were mutating the same list while checking for index using range().
code :
pattern = ["ABCDE","ABCDEFG","ABCDEFGH","ABCDEFGHIJKLMNO","CEST","DBTSFDE","DBTSFDEO","EOEUDNBNUW","EAEUDNBNUW","FG","FGH"]
output_pattern = []

for i in range(0, (len(pattern)-1)):
    if not pattern[i] in pattern[i+1]:
        output_pattern.append(pattern[i])

# Adding the last item
output_pattern.append(pattern[-1])
print (output_pattern)

>>>> ['ABCDEFGHIJKLMNO', 'CEST', 'DBTSFDEO', 'EOEUDNBNUW', 'EAEUDNBNUW', 'FGH']
output_pattern.append(pattern[-1])
pattern = ["ACD", "AD", "BACD"]
