it helps some times Looking at the driver program you've linked to, I see these lines calling your read_words function:
code :
words_file = askopenfile(mode='r', title='Select word list file')
words = a3.read_words(words_file)
words_file.close()

hop of those help? If your "values" column is formatted properly as an actual list and being read in as a string you can use eval() to convert it to a list:
code :
>>> list_as_string = '[["removed", "admin"], ["added","disabled", "0x9923"], ["filler", "filler", "filler"]]'
>>> type(list_as_string)
<type 'str'>
>>> list_as_list = eval(list_as_string)
>>> type(list_as_list)
<type 'list'>
with open(fileName[0], 'r') as reader :
    importReader = csv.reader(reader)
    for line in importReader:
        print(eval(line[4])[0])

this one helps. Getting a list (or any object) from a .py file is done by importing the file:
code :
import mypyfile # <- leave off the .py

importedlist =  mypyfile.dev_personal_files
from mypyfile import dev_personal_files

dev_personal_files.extend(my_list_of_extra_items)
import json

# Read data from the file
with open('myfile.json') as f:
    my_list = json.load(f)

# Add an item to your list
my_list.append('foo')

# Save data to the file
with open('myfile.json', 'w') as f:
    json.dump(my_list)

Gensim built-in model.load function and Python Pickle.load file

Gensim built-in model.load function and Python Pickle.load file

may help you . I was trying to use Gensim to import GoogelNews-pretrained model on some English words (sampled 15 ones here only stored in a txt file with each per line, and there are no more context as corpus). Then I could use "model.most_similar()" to get their similar words/phrases for them. But actually the file loaded from Python-Pickle method couldn't be used for gensim-built-in model.load() and model.most_similar() function directly. , You've defined word_vectors as a Python dict:
code :
word_vectors = {}
from gensim.models import KeyedVectors
model = KeyedVectors.load_word2vec_format(GOOGLE_WORD2VEC_MODEL, limit=15, binary=True)
# instead of a {} dict
word_vectors = KeyedVectors(model.vector_size)  # re-use size from loaded model
# instead of `word_vectors[word] = _SOMETHING_`
word_vectors.add(word, model[word])
word_vectors.save(GOOGLE_WORD_FEATURE)
words_set = KeyedVectors.load(GOOGLE_WORD_FEATURE)

words_set.most_similar("knit", topn=3)  # should work

this will help Pandas has quite a few ways to read data from storage.
From the comments you know you can use pandas.read_pickle() as simply as:
