lockNow() in broadcast receiver

lockNow() in broadcast receiver

it should still fix some issue Either lockactivity or mdevicepolicymanager is null. This is not surprising, as your process may well have been terminated before the BroadcastReceiver got control.
Static data members are only a cache. Do not rely upon them. And most certainly do not put an Activity in a static data member, as you are leaking a lot of memory by doing so.
code :
public class OnLockReceive extends BroadcastReceiver {
  @Override
  public void onReceive(Context context, Intent intent) {
    ((DevicePolicyManager)context.getSystemService(Context.DEVICE_POLICY_SERVICE)).lockNow();
  }
}

To fix the issue you can do From BroadcastReceiver I could not start Location Manager as well. So I started a service on BroadcastReceiver and in that service I manipulated Location Manager. I think I found this solution in Android development documentation. You also can start Activity instead of Service.
Here is the code of switch to Service on BroadcastReceiver:
code :
    Intent serviceIntent = new Intent(context,MyService.class);
    serviceIntent.putExtra("locateRequest", "locateRequest"); // if you want pass parameter from here to service
    serviceIntent.putExtra("queryDeviceNumber", results[1]);
    context.startService(serviceIntent); //start service for get location

How to pass Arraylist from an activity to Broadcast receiver to another broadcast receiver

This might help you what i did was the user selects particular app, so i stored these selected apps in arraylist and stored it using shared preference. the startup broadcast receiver is called every 1 second using alarm manager which inturn calls checkrunningapps broadcast receiver. here i retrieved the stored arraylist and compare it with current foreground app and do whatever i want, like app lock and stuff. but the problem is every second it retrieves arraylist and checks it. there is bit lag in the app because of this. I am new to android. i think my method is wrong . i also tried to use service but in service onstart command the code executes only once, so it checks current running app with arraylist only once even though the service is in background indefinitely. plz tell me the correct approach to this using background service. plz send me the code. i hv searched a lot but no luck. i want the service to fetch arraylist only once and compare it with current foreground running app forever.

I hope this helps . According to the migration guide to Android O given by Google, most of the implicit broadcast intent should not be registered in the Manifest (minus a few exceptions found here) but explicit broadcast intents remain untouched. ,
But how do we recognise if a receiver is implicit?

it helps some times I'm making a university project where I have to make a charger alarm. I select a ringtone, enter a pin, then plug in a charger. When I plug out, it moves to another activity where the phone starts ringing, the screen is locked and can only proceed if provided a correct pin code. , Please see:
code :
<uses-permission android:name="android.permission.BATTERY_STATS"/>

I think the issue was by ths following , Since it seems that the issue is still active i will add some lines. First I think you should have a service and call this service from the BroadcastReceiver. This could be a possible implementation.
The broadcast receiver:
