C# - Is Comparing 2 floats an expensive operation?

may help you . Comparison is fast, but if statements are not because processors are executing multiple commands at the same time in a pipeline. If there is a conditional jump like if statement the processor needs to start executing other branch before the branch direction is determined. If it is realized that the selected branch is the wrong one, all instructions in it needs to be flushed. After the flush the other branch is executed but this takes much more time than predicting the branch correctly in the first place.
On the other hand optimization is quite pointless, because the draw call is quite likely made anyways on every frame. This is because it is easy to just clear the whole frame with the background color and draw everything again. For sure the draw call needs to be made on every frame, if there are any transparency in the UI. In that case the transparent UI needs to be drawn as the last element on top of everything else.

hope this fix your issue As well as what the other posters have said, the result of file_exists() is automatically cached by PHP to improve performance.
However, if you're already reading user info from the database, you may as well store the information in there. If the user is only allowed one avatar, you could just store a single bit in a column for "has avatar" (1/0), and then have the filename the same as the user id, and use something like SELECT CONCAT(IF(has_avatar, id, 'default'), '.png') AS avatar FROM users

wish helps you Casting doesn't change the amount of memory an object occupies. It just changes the runtime type.
If you can do those operations on a per-row basis, then just do the operation immediately inside the loop wherein you read a single line.
code :
while ((line = reader.readLine()) != null) {
    line = process(line);
    writer.println(line);
}

will be helpful for those in need In relative terms, yes, hitting the database is an expensive operation. However, if the playlist state is meant to be persistent then you have to hit the database at some point, it's just a question of when/how often.
One simple optimization you might try is instead of sending each change the user makes to the server right away, allow them to make however many changes they want (using some client-side javascript to keep the UI in the correct state) and provide a "Save Playlist" button that they can press to submit all of their changes to the server at once. That will reduce database hits, and also the number of round-trips made to the server (in terms of what a user experiences, a round-trip to the server is far more expensive than a database hit).

hop of those help? In your first query, in the filter clause, you are implicitly specifying an AND condition. So optimizer has to scan both '_id' AND 'isDelete' fields
In your second query optimizer will scan only the '_id' index and perform the update operation. If your use-case doesn't need both fields to be validated, 2nd query will be good choice

will help you Just iterate some function like sin N times where you can tune N until it's slow enough. That will keep the FPU busy, which you seem to want for some reason.
