help you fix your problem If you're looking for a JS solution, this is how I approached the problem, using the "slide" event.
code :
slide: function (event, ui) {
    var totalWidth = $(".slider").width();
    $(".left-color").width((ui.values[0]) / 100 * totalWidth);
},

wish helps you I struggled with this for a bit too. Basically, you just have to set the value of the select and then trigger the select's change event. This should do the trick.
code :
$('#speed').val('Fast');
$('#speed').trigger('change');

To fix this issue I'm not really sure how you want the color change to happen, but here's one option:
http://jsfiddle.net/tdWdw/2
code :
  $(function () {
      $("#slider-vertical").slider({
          orientation: "vertical",
          range: "min",
          min: 0,
          max: 100,
          value: 60,
          slide: function (event, ui) {
              $("#amount").val(ui.value);
              $('#slider-vertical a').css('background-color', 'gray');
          }
      });
  });

With these it helps Here is a jsfiddle that does the "pulsation". Link to jsfiddle
code :
$(function () {
    $("#secrets-slider").slider({
        orientation: "vertical",
        range: "min",
        min: 0,
        max: 100,
        value: 70,
        slide: function (event, ui) {
            $("#amount").val(ui.value);
        }
    });
    function flashing() {
        if (flash === 0) {
            $("#secrets-slider .ui-slider-range").stop(true, true);
        } else {
            $("#secrets-slider").animate(
                {
                    backgroundColor: '#ff8c00'
                }, 500,
                function() {
                    $("#secrets-slider").animate(
                        {
                            backgroundColor: '#f00'
                        }, 500
                    )
                }
            )
            setTimeout(flashing,1000);
        }
    }
    flashing();
});

it helps some times Here you go. You could do it by using Bootstrap + JQuery UI Slider. Let me know if this is what u want to achieve. Keep coding.
code :
$(function() { $("#slider").slider(); });
.container { padding: 2vw; }

#slider { border: 1px solid white; }

.bg1, .bg2, .bg3 { height: 100%; }

.bg1 { background-color: salmon; }

.bg2 { background-color: green; }

.bg3 { background-color: #6dd5ff; }

          <div class="col-xs-4 col-sm-2 col-md-1 col-lg-1 bg2"></div>

jQuery UI Slider: Range with 3 handles, and configurable colors?

jQuery UI Slider: Range with 3 handles, and configurable colors?

will help you The range option defined in the jquery ui slider documentation does indeed limit the slider to only 2 handles. You need to create several elements when the slider raises the 'slide' or 'change' event and set the position of these manually, this way you can create a slider with multiple handles and multiple ranges which you can apply custom css to. See fiddle for a working example.
