around this issue This is one of the problems that arise when you use the "Generic Repository" anti pattern. Writing an Update method that works for every combination of entity graphs that you pass in and will always do exactly what you want it to do is a big pain in the EF.
Instead, try writing repositories that match your use cases.

hope this fix your issue Lets say that i have 3 entities, a, b and c. Connected as a <- b <- c.
code :
var tempB = a1.b;
var tempC = a1.c;

a1.b = a2.b;
a1.c = a2.c;

a2.b = tempB;
a2.c = tempC;
var tempID = a1.ID;
a1.ID = a2.ID;
a2.ID = tempID;
var tempB = a1.b;

a1.b = a2.b;
a2.b = tempB;

// this copies c instances together with b instances
Reflection To Update Source Entity with Children To Target With Children

Reflection To Update Source Entity with Children To Target With Children

This might help you For all you Reflection experts I need some help. I am working on a gneric method to be able to use hierarchical data assignments in an MVC application using CodeFirst and EF5. A user would apply changes to the parent object (source) and this method would populate the child object(s) (target). It's not working as I would expect. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated. , See original post "UPDATES" for solution.

around this issue To update the child of the object you need to add cascade={"persist"} to the relationship, have a look at:
code :
 * @ORM\PreUpdate
public function setModifiedValue()
    $this->modified= new \DateTime();
GreenDAO does not update the entity's children tree after insert child entity

like below fixes the issue For performance reasons, the relations are cached and must be updated manually when a modification is made.
Try with this
code :
cards = currentLesson.getCards();
How to update children with parent in Entity Framework

I wish this helpful for you This is because dbEntry.Children = parent.Children; line adding the children as new children, not updating the existing children.
You can overcome this problem as follows:
code :
public void Save(Parent parent)
    if (Parent.ID== 0)
       Parent dbEntry = context.Parent.Inlcude(p => p.Children).FirstOrDefault(a => a.ID== parentID);

       if (dbEntry != null)
            dbEntry.ID= parent.ID;
            dbEntry.Name= parent.NAme;

            dbEntry.Children.Clear() // It will clear the children before adding the updated version of the children.

            dbEntry.Children = parent.Children;
