I wish this helpful for you I am trying to set up laravel homestead on my windows 7 machine . I installed vagrant and virtualbox. Also the git bash shell. , The error is simple. It's telling you
code :
The host path of the shared folder is missing: /e/Projects/Code/apache/laravel
cd /e/Projects/Code/apache/laravel
folders:
    - map: E:/Projects/Code/apache/laravel
      to: /home/vagrant/Projects

this will help In your Ubuntu machine you have to let Homestead know where your actual code is located. Example:
If you code is located in a seperate partition called WORKSPACE you need to type the following:
code :
    - map: /Volumes/WORKSPACE/YourProject
      to: /home/vagrant/Code
The host path of the shared folder is missing: path/to/file Mac OS X Yosemite

code :
folders:
- map: /Applications/MAMP/htdocs/code
  to: /home/vagrant/code

sites:
- map: homestead.app
  to: /home/vagrant/code/aveniros/Laravel/public

I hope this helps . You probably were editing the wrong file.
After running init for homestead a local configuration file is created in your home directory under:
Laravel Homestead - The host path of the shared folder is missing: ~/Code

Laravel Homestead - The host path of the shared folder is missing: ~/Code

With these it helps I read this and wasn't quite clear on the situation, so I thought I might help clarify. If you are getting this error, pull up your console and type:
Homestead virtualbox error, the host path of the shared folder is missing: ~/Code

Homestead virtualbox error, the host path of the shared folder is missing: ~/Code

seems to work fine I had the same problem and fixed it by bash init.sh
Run the bash init.sh command from the Homestead directory to create the Homestead.yaml configuration file. The Homestead.yaml file will be placed in the ~/.homestead hidden directory.
