This might help you we are working on adding even more examples and docs and hopefully some videos on a new Youtube channel, but its a lot of work, as you can imagine. :) In the mean time, here is one example that uses the new data table with a static document:

Any of those help I have been using SlickGrid for a few weeks now and could not find a decent tutorial. I learned mostly from the examples included in the distribution, SlickGrid's source code & Firebug and SlickGrid's Google Group and... Stackoverflow.

Any of those help We have just done this and the issue we found with SlickGrid v1.4.3 is that you run into problems with two slick grids as they share the GlobalEditorLock state. In other words when you select an item from say your popup slick grid it fires the commit event on the handler you have setup in the originating grid. That is the gotcha. We got around this by adding a new option called disableEditorCommit defaulting to false and changing source in the handleClick method:
code :
if (options.enableCellNavigation && !columns[cell].unselectable) {
    // if this is a popup then do not commit edits to the global editor
    if (options.disableEditorCommit) {
        scrollRowIntoView(row,false);
        setSelectedCellAndRow($cell[0], (row === defaultGetLength()) || options.autoEdit);
    } else {
        // commit current edit before proceeding
        if (validated === true || (validated === null && options.editorLock.commitCurrentEdit())) {
            scrollRowIntoView(row,false);
            setSelectedCellAndRow($cell[0], (row === defaultGetLength()) || options.autoEdit);
        }
    }
}
validated = options.disableEditorCommit ? true : options.editorLock.commitCurrentEdit();

will be helpful for those in need Use the onClick subscribe like this instead (and also right after it has been instantiated)
code :
grid.onClick.subscribe(function(e,args) {
 if ($(e.target).hasClass('show-report')) {
    alert("hello");
 }
});

help you fix your problem If I understand you right you want to configure the toolbar to have only certain tools. So i rather add the tools that i want instead of removing them. And remove the logo:
code :
from bokeh.plotting import show
from bokeh.models.tools import PanTool, SaveTool

p = figure()
p.line([1, 2, 3, 4],[1, 4, 3, 0])
p.toolbar.logo = None
p.tools = [SaveTool(), PanTool()]
show(p)

may help you . In case this is still relevant, this is how you should do you selection:
code :
df = pd.DataFrame.from_dict(AAPL)

# Convert date column in df from strings to the proper datetime format
date_format="%Y-%m-%d"
df["date"] = pd.to_datetime(df['date'], format=date_format)
# Use the same conversion for selected dates
weekapple = df[(df.date>=dt.strptime("2000-03-01", date_format)) &
               (df.date<=dt.strptime("2000-04-01", date_format))]

p = figure(x_axis_type="datetime", title="AAPL", plot_height=350, plot_width=800)
p.xgrid.grid_line_color=None
p.ygrid.grid_line_alpha=0.5
p.xaxis.axis_label = 'Time'
p.yaxis.axis_label = 'Value'
p.line(weekapple.date, weekapple.close)
show(p)
import numpy  as np
from bokeh.io import output_notebook, show
from bokeh.plotting import figure
import bokeh
import pandas as pd
from datetime import datetime as dt

bokeh.sampledata.download()
