seems to work fine I am programming a Pit scoring system and I have a piece of code that looks like this: , Consider your code:
code :
highestConverted <  2 =  5 < 2  -> false
highestConverted != 2 -> 5 != 2 -> true

false || true = true.
while(highestConverted<scoreConverted && highestConverted!=scoreConverted)

I wish this helpful for you Obviously it seems that your program has at least a bug that you can try to iron out with a debugger.
As for your question, an exception will terminate your program if it isn't caught. So if you always throw your exceptions, including in the main method, when one happen will cause the program to exit.

This might help you You should convert the number received from raw_input into an integer. Right now it's being compared as a string.
An easy (but probably bad) way to do this:
code :
n = int(raw_input("Enter a number: "))

wish of those help I am trying to teach myself python and have no experience write code. For my first attempt I am trying to write a program that applies the snowball principle to debt reduction, but also adds in an extra set amount each payment. I can get the first debt to clear(it goes to a negative but it exits the loop). My second step wont exit the loop and I have looked at topics that dealt with nested loops but they did not help. Could someone please show me where I went wrong? , Take a look at this loop:
code :
while backPay >= 0:
    balance2 -= standPay2
    backPay += 1

hope this fix your issue I'm trying to use an if else statement for a menu selection in my program. Whenever I type in the number given to quit the application, the application still runs. I'm not sure what I should to do to fix this but any help would be greatly appreciated. in advance. , I'm assuming this is the code that is supposed to exit:
code :
        System.exit(0); // causes the application to end right here
        return; // returns from the main function

I think the issue was by ths following , As you are breaking out of the while loop on the client side (in the case of the quit input) prior to sending the message, the server never receives the command to shut down. This means the client will close down while leaving the server up.
One option to fix this issue is to switch the order in which the message is sent to the server (send, then check to close client side)
code :

if message.lower() == 'quit':
