should help you out The issue is that you are returning the item count as 0 which tells that there is no rows to show. You should return the size of the List as shown below.
code :
    @Override
    public int getItemCount() {
        return data.size();
    }

wish helps you This is normal, because your dy at some point of time fluctuates between dy >= 0 and dy < 0. If you want to achieve sort of quick return view, you should bound it to something like this:
code :
 recycleList.addOnScrollListener(new RecyclerView.OnScrollListener() {
        @Override
        public void onScrolled(RecyclerView recyclerView, int dx, int dy) {
            super.onScrolled(recyclerView, dx, dy);
            mTotalDy += dy;
            if (dy > 0 && mTotalDy >= bottom.getHeight()) {
                bottom.setVisibility(View.GONE);

            } else if(recyclerView.getScrollState() == RecyclerView.SCROLL_STATE_IDLE && bottom.getVisiblity() == View.GONE) {
                bottom.setVisibility(View.VISIBLE);
                mTotalDy = 0;
            }

        }
    });

this will help Cast_detail_fragment:
code :
 public void setcastlist(ArrayList<cast_class_details> castlist){
    this.castlist=castlist;
    notifyItemRangeChanged(0,castlist.size());
  //  Toast.makeText(this,String.valueOf(castlist.size()),Toast.LENGTH_SHORT).show();
}
  public void setcastlist(ArrayList<cast_class_details> castlist){
    this.castlist=castlist;
    notifyDataSetChanged();
  //  Toast.makeText(this,String.valueOf(castlist.size()),Toast.LENGTH_SHORT).show();
}

I hope this helps . You are missing the update notice for your adapter (which displays the data).
Everytime you update your List, you need to call
code :
adapter.notifyDataSetChanged();
//if you only change one item, and use recyclerview, call:
adapter.notifyItemChanged();

To fix this issue While the above answers do work they don't preserve the wrap content behavior of recycler view for that you need to use a NestedScrollView.
For eg you need to do something like this:-
code :
 <android.support.v4.widget.NestedScrollView
        android:layout_width="match_parent"
        android:layout_height="match_parent">

 <RelativeLayout
        android:layout_width="match_parent"
        android:layout_height="match_parent">

        <include
            layout="@layout/drawer_view_header"
            android:id="@+id/navigation_header"/>

        <android.support.v7.widget.RecyclerView
            android:layout_below="@id/navigation_header"
            android:id="@+id/friends_list"
            android:layout_width="match_parent"
            android:layout_height="wrap_content"/>

        <android.support.v7.widget.RecyclerView
            android:layout_below="@id/friends_list"
            android:id="@+id/followers_list"
            android:layout_width="match_parent"
            android:layout_height="wrap_content"/>

    </RelativeLayout>

</android.support.v4.widget.NestedScrollView>
compile 'com.android.support:recyclerview-v7:23.2.0'
