fixed the issue. Will look into that further Your strategy should depend on importance of the test and ability to retake whole test.
Is test/quiz for fun or competence/knowledge checking? Are you dealing with logged users? Are tests generated randomly from large poll of available questions?

I think the issue was by ths following , I've been told that I should not create my Quiz object before my quiz is completed; A user could go to the quiz page, not complete it, and there would be an 'unused' quiz sitting on the database. I can see the logic of that. , You can instantiate a Quiz object without saving it to the database:
code :
def new
  @user = current_user
  @quiz = Quiz.new(user_id: current_user.id)
end

Hope that helps I have been stuck on this now for hours and hours, I just can't figure out how to do it and I'm getting tunnel vision with it so I need some help. So here are the bones of my app hope you can help... , If you only want to save and retrieve string type:-
code :
var Question: String!

//save questions from here {func save() }
let defaults = NSUserDefaults.standardUserDefaults()
defaults.setValue(questions, forKey: "key_questions")

//retrieve questions from another view controller
let defaults = NSUserDefaults.standardUserDefaults()
let quest = defaults.stringForKey("key_questions")
print("quest") //questions saved before from first view controller
var Question: [[String:AnyObject]]!

//save questions from here {func save() }
let defaults = NSUserDefaults.standardUserDefaults()
defaults.setValue(questions, forKey: "key_questions")

//retrieve questions from another view controller
let defaults = NSUserDefaults.standardUserDefaults()
let quest = defaults.objectForKey("key_questions") as? [[String:AnyObject]]
print("quest") //questions saved before from first view controller

it fixes the issue You used dash "-" in your html id and low dash "_" in your JavaScript so you can't get the right element :
code :
<li id="percentage-correct">Percentage: 0%</li>
document.getElementById("percentage_correct").innerHTML = "Percentage: " + Math.floor((numCorrect / numIncorrect) * 100) + "%";

This might help you You are right in using let labelCount = document.querySelectorAll('#quiz label').length; to get the amount of labels and then doing 100/labelCount. All you need to do then is store that value and replace 33.3 with that value, like below
Three Questions Example
code :
let result = 0;
let labelCount = document.querySelectorAll('#quiz label').length;
let questionValue = 100 / labelCount;

let right = () => {
  result += questionValue;
};

let wrong = () => {
  result -= questionValue;
};

let finish = () => {
  totalScore = result;

  if (totalScore < 0) {
    totalScore = 0;
  }

  alert(Math.ceil(totalScore));
}
<form id="quiz">
  <div>
    <label>Q1 - X?</label>
    <input type="radio" name="g1" onclick="right()" />Yes
    <input type="radio" name="g1" onclick="wrong()" />No
  </div>
  <div>
    <label>Q2 - Y?</label>
    <input type="radio" name="g2" onclick="wrong()">Yes
    <input type="radio" name="g2" onclick="right()">No
  </div>
  <div>
    <label>Q2 - Y?</label>
    <input type="radio" name="g3" onclick="right()">Yes
    <input type="radio" name="g3" onclick="wrong()">No
  </div>
  <br>
  <input type="button" value="finish" onclick="finish()">
</form>
let result = 0;
let labelCount = document.querySelectorAll('#quiz label').length;
let questionValue = 100 / labelCount;

let right = () => {
  result += questionValue;
};

let wrong = () => {
  result -= questionValue;
};

let finish = () => {
  totalScore = result;

  if (totalScore < 0) {
    totalScore = 0;
  }

  alert(Math.ceil(totalScore));
}
<form id="quiz">
  <div>
    <label>Q1 - X?</label>
    <input type="radio" name="g1" onclick="right()" />Yes
    <input type="radio" name="g1" onclick="wrong()" />No
  </div>
  <div>
    <label>Q2 - Y?</label>
    <input type="radio" name="g2" onclick="wrong()">Yes
    <input type="radio" name="g2" onclick="right()">No
  </div>
  <div>
    <label>Q3 - Y?</label>
    <input type="radio" name="g3" onclick="right()">Yes
    <input type="radio" name="g3" onclick="wrong()">No
  </div>
    <div>
    <label>Q4 - Y?</label>
    <input type="radio" name="g4" onclick="right()">Yes
    <input type="radio" name="g4" onclick="wrong()">No
  </div>
  <br>
  <input type="button" value="finish" onclick="finish()">
</form>
