fixed the issue. Will look into that further I want help on how to append the value of textbox1 to textbox2 when the value of textbox1 changes , You should be $text1.val() just as you are with $text2.
code :
$(function () {
    $('#textbox1').on('change', function () {
        $text1 = $('#textbox1');
        $text2 = $('#textbox2');
        $text2.val($text2.val() + $text1.val());
    });
});

should help you out The string can't be nil due to the sort of typing in Swift. Did you tried to control textfield values with empty string instead of nil value:
code :
func textFieldDidBeginEditing(textField: UITextField)
    {
        codefirstText.text = ""
        codesecondText.text = ""
        codethirdText.text = ""
        codefourthText.text = ""

        if (codefirstText.text != "")
        {
            codefirstText.text = ""
            codesecondText.text = ""
            codethirdText.text = ""
            codefourthText.text = ""
        }
        else if (codesecondText.text != "")
        {
            codefirstText.text = ""
            codesecondText.text = ""
            codethirdText.text = ""
            codefourthText.text = ""
        }
        else if (codethirdText.text != "")
        {
            codefirstText.text = ""
            codesecondText.text = ""
            codethirdText.text = ""
            codefourthText.text = ""
        }
        else if (codefourthText.text != "")
        {
            codefirstText.text = ""
            codesecondText.text = ""
            codethirdText.text = ""
            codefourthText.text = ""
        }

    }

it should still fix some issue try this when you type you will have a filtered array
just connect this action method to textfield didchangeevent
code :
  @IBAction func textFiledDidChange(_ textFiled : UITextField){
         var arr : [String] = ["a","ab","abc"]
         ///replace ("ab") with textfield.text!
         let filteredArr = arr.filter({$0.contains("ab")})
         print(filteredArr)
         /// filteredArr will contain now ["ab","abc"]
         }

Any of those help "UIScrollView.appearance().backgroundColor = .lightGray" in the init method of my rootview does also effect the Textfield behavior. Deleting this line did the trick.
