around this issue I am create a Contact Us Form with jQuery Validation and jQuery Ajax submission.
code :
  submitHandler: function(form) {

        $.ajax({
          type: "POST",
          url: "send.php",
          data: $(form).serialize(),
          timeout: 3000,
          success: function() {
            $("#contactForm").hide();
            $('#divContactFrm').html("<div id='divSuccessMsg'></div>");
            $('#divSuccessMsg').html("Thank you! Your message has been sent to us. We will be getting back to you within 24 hours.")
            .hide()
            .fadeIn(1500, function() { $('#divSuccessMsg'); });
           setTimeout(resetAll,3000);
          },
          error: function() {
            $('#divContactFrm').html("<div id='divErrorMsg'></div>");
            $('#divErrorMsg').html("Something is going wrong...")
            .hide()
            .fadeIn(1500, function() { $('#divErrorMsg'); });
          }
        });
        return false;
      }
function resetAll(){
 $("#contactForm").show();
$('#divSuccessMsg').remove(); // Removing it as with next form submit you will be adding the div again in your code.

}
Ajax not retrieving data every 5 seconds

Ajax not retrieving data every 5 seconds

fixed the issue. Will look into that further Use setInterval, if you want to call function every 5 seconds. The setInterval() method calls a function or evaluates an expression at specified intervals (in milliseconds).
Where as The setTimeout() method calls a function or evaluates an expression after a specified number of milliseconds.
code :
setInterval(function() {
  $.ajax({
    url: 'test_api.php',
    data: "", dataType: 'json',
    success: function(rows) {
        $('body').html(''); //Clear content
        for (var i in rows) {
            var row = rows[i];
            var availability = row[3];
            var hostName = row[2];
            var intranet = row[6];
            var timeRespons = row[4];
            $('body').append("<b>availability: </b>"+availability+"<b> hostName: </b>"+hostName+
            "<b> intranet: </b>"+intranet+"<b> timeResponse: </b>"+timeRespons) .append("<hr />");
            }
        }
    });
}, 5000);
How to read and display data from XML for every 30 seconds using JQUERY AJAX and HTML

How to read and display data from XML for every 30 seconds using JQUERY AJAX and HTML

fixed the issue. Will look into that further In your ajax request you specified that the data will be xml, in which case you will get back an xml document in your success handler, therefore do not call $.parseXML.
Getting the data every 30 seconds is just a matter of calling setTimer or setTimeout setting the timeout to 30 seconds
code :
function getData(){
  $.ajax({
    type: "GET",
    url: "LiveData.xml",
    dataType: "xml",
    success: function (xml) {
            $xml = $(xml);
            $xml.find('Field[no="1"]').each(function () {
              $("#news-container").append($(this).text() + "<br />");

            });
    },
    complete: function(){
        setTimeout(getData, 30000);
    }
  });
}

getData();

wish help you to fix your issue You should do something like below. The below code does exactly what you want without any warnings and right way of doing things in your case.
code :
class FlashMessage extends Component {
  state = { visible: false }

  componentWillMount(){
    this.setState({ visible: true });
  }

  componentDidMount(){
    this.timer = this.setTimeout(()=> {this.setState({ visible: false })}, 5000)
  }

  componentWillUnMount(){
    clearTimeout(this.timer);
  }

  render() {
    return(
        <div>
            {this.props.data && this.state.visible ? "Yes, data received!" : "Data not received"}
        </div>
    )
  }
}

export default FlashMessage;

like below fixes the issue I believe this is not a good way to go. You're creating (probably) unnecessary traffic. If you really need such functionality, I'd at least consider some kind of mechanism that will track changes and execute ONLY if something has changed after the last server call. You don't really need to send a request to the server and access the database, if the data haven't changed.
Just some idea for you to consider, it all depends on your specific situation and needs.
