hop of those help? Your over complicating this. You should be using whereIn where you need to search for an array of values.
You whole code above can be condensed to:
code :
if ($price_filter == 'paid') {
    $formats = explode(',', $format_filter);
    Book::where('book_id', $category_book->book_id)->whereIn('format', $formats)->where('sell_price', '>', '0')->where('status', '1')->get();
}

code :
 function get($where = null){
     if($where != null){
        A::where('field_name', '=', $where)->first();
     }else{
        A::all();

Hope this helps Try this way..
Initialize the table by getting all departments and all absence types:
code :
$departments  = DB::table('Departments')->pluck('deptStringName');
$absenceTypes = DB::table('Absence_types')->pluck('stringName');

$row = [];
foreach ($absenceTypes as $absenceType) {
    $row[$absenceType] = 0;
}

$table = [];
foreach ($departments as $department) {
    $table[$department] = $row;
}
[
    'X' => [
        'A' => 0,
        'B' => 0,
        'C' => 0,
    ],
    // ...
]
$data = DB::select('
    SELECT
        d.deptStringName as department,
        t.stringName as absenceType,
        COUNT(a.id) as absenceCount
    FROM Absences a
    JOIN Users u         ON u.id = a.user_id
    JOIN Departments d   ON d.id = u.dept_id
    JOIN Absence_types t ON t.id = a.type_id
    GROUP BY d.deptStringName, t.stringName
');
foreach ($data as $row) {
    $table[$row->department][$row->absenceType] = $row->absenceCount
}
[
    'X' => [
        'A' => 4,
        'B' => 8,
        'C' => 5,
    ],
    'Y' => [
        'A' => 7,
        'B' => 9,
        'C' => 4,
    ],

Laravel dynamic queries on array of Eloquent models

Laravel dynamic queries on array of Eloquent models

will help you I am currently trying to make a function that calls different scopeQueries such as scopeByLocation() or scopeByPublished() on models defined in an array. I've got the basics working through [this link][1]. However, when trying to access custom made query scopes that are defined in the corresponding model, I get the following error: "Call to undefined method Illuminate\Database\Query\Builder::ForLocation($location)->get()". , Okay, I've finally solved it the following way:
code :
//array of models
public function models()
{
    return [
        'Modules\Website\Models\Article',
         ...
        ];
}

//function that retrieves all elements for a model
public function getAllElementsForModel($model, $param)
{
    //instantiate model
    $model = new $model;

    //call queryScope
    //'queryScope' could be any queryScope that is defined within your model(s),
    //the parameters are needed for the associated queryScope
    $query = call_user_func_array([$model, 'queryScope'], [$param1, $param2]);

    $result = $query->get();

    //do stuff with your $result
}

//retrieves all
public function all($param)
{
    //loop through the array of models
    foreach($this->models() as $model){

        $this->getAllElementsForModel($model, $param);
        //do stuff here...
    }
}
