seems to work fine According to this blog entry List Picker works with the idea of "there is always an active selection".
The approach I would follow is to have the first item in the list be you "no selected item" item. With appropriate values (maybe a null id) that you can identify later on.

fixed the issue. Will look into that further Given that the underlying type is still the same (DateTime), then I think that rather than creating a new TimePicker, you could just implement a custom picker page as described in WP7 DatePicker and TimePicker in depth | API and Customization on WindowsPhoneGeek.com. Richard Griffin also has a post that covers the same topic for DatePicker.

seems to work fine I've not played much with WP7 ToolKit but I've managed to display list like this:
In XAML - removed Grid and added isFlatList:
code :
<toolkit:LongListSelector Name="MyLLS" IsFlatList="True">
    <toolkit:LongListSelector.ItemTemplate>
        <DataTemplate>
              <TextBlock Text="{Binding Title}"/>
        </DataTemplate>
    </toolkit:LongListSelector.ItemTemplate>
</toolkit:LongListSelector>
ObservableCollection<NewsItem> myList = new ObservableCollection<NewsItem>();

MainPage()
{
    InitializeComponent();
    // something already
    MyLLS.ItemsSource = myList;
    myList.Add(new NewsItem { Link = "http://google.com", Title= "Google Search" });
}

        {
            base.OnNavigatedTo(e);
            if (e.NavigationMode != NavigationMode.Back)
            {
              YourListPicker.ItemsSource = yourItemSource;
            }
        }

help you fix your problem What i had to do was, to open the .csproj file of my project and add es-ES; entry under the node.
I did try adding just es;, but it didn't work. It had to be es-ES; as in the toolkit project, under the LocalizedResources folder the resx files is called: ControlResources.es-ES.resx.
code :
<SupportedCultures>
    es; es-ES;
</SupportedCultures>
