I hope this helps . Self-answer:
The primary reason for the failure to compile was the Lua .lib file. The Microsoft compiler does strange things when dealing with C code, so I got an appropriately compiled version of the .lib from the LuaBinaries SourceForge repository (http://sourceforge.net/projects/luabinaries/) - specifically, 5.2.3/Windows Libraries/Dynamic/lua-5.2.3_Win32_dll10_lib.zip (which is compiled for VS2010).

Does that help I am at a loss here. I am trying to make Visual Studio 2010 compile VTK and be able to use Qt and VTK in the same applications. I am following http://www.vtk.org/Wiki/VTK/Configure_and_Build and I keep getting errors that say LINK. ,
Install a precompiled Qt 4.8 x64:
code :
cmake .. -G "Visual Studio 10 2010 Win64" -DBUILD_TESTING=OFF -DModule_vtkGUISupportQtOpenGL=ON -DBUILD_SHARED_LIBS=OFF -DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX=[INSTALL-DIR] -DCMAKE_DEBUG_POSTFIX=d
cmake --build . --config Release --target install
cmake --build . --config Debug --target install

around this issue So it seems the makefile formatting was wrong. I took a look into the original makefile and I just saw this part having 4 spaces less on the line-breaked lines...
code :
ORAINC          = -I$(ORACLE_HOME)/rdbms/public \
                  -I$(ORACLE_HOME)/network/public \
                  -I$(ORACLE_HOME)/xdk/include
ORAINC          = -I$(ORACLE_HOME)/rdbms/public \
              -I$(ORACLE_HOME)/network/public \
              -I$(ORACLE_HOME)/xdk/include

I think the issue was by ths following , This is a known issue with the sources releases. As a solution, you can use sources from project repository.

fixed the issue. Will look into that further REQUEST_URI does not contain query string. Try matching your rule against QUERY_STRING

it fixes the issue You should not run everything as root. ./configure and make will work fine without root permissions, make install requires root permissions for writing to directories like /etc and /usr/bin.
/etc is not suitable for executables, let alone a full Apache installation. If you want to put your configuration files in /etc/apache, use the --sysconfdir=/etc/apache. The correct place to install a custom-build Apache is /usr/local.
