will help you Look at your error logs. You'll see a detailed error message there; the 500 error Apache is fronting is not meaningful here. Most likely the echo is the problem. DB::getInstance should return an object, and you cannot "echo" objects. The error you'll find in your error log is most likely "cannot convert object to string".

Does that help The static in front of the function has a completely different from the static inside a function1. In particular, it is completely unrelated to the return type. The return type of these functions is the same as here:
code :
Unit& None() { static Unit none(....); return none;}

const Unit& None() { static Unit none(....); return none;}

will be helpful for those in need 1.Static variable means it is common for all the objects created for that class. 2.Whatever written in header file acts as a blueprint ie it doesnt allocate memory for it. For this reason all static variables are defined in cpp implementation file. Compiler allocates memory for those defined in cpp files.

will help you If you really want to use super instead of just doing aa.a1, you can technically do this in the constructor without error and only get a warning:
code :
public static int s;

public bb(){
    this.s = super.a1;
}
aa a = new aa();
bb b = new bb();
System.out.println(a.a1);
System.out.println(b.s);
