self.locationManager.delegate = self;

wish helps you Xcode 6 made lots of additions to Location Services.
1) You need to change your info.plist file to include the String "NSLocationWhenInUseUsageDescription" key. The value of this will be your applications reasoning for turning on location services: "Using location services to track your run".

wish of those help When you pause the location updates, the system considers that you don't need the location for now. Resuming it will only give you the current location.
This is a normal behavior.

To fix this issue Just for whoever will be asking the same question (that can be found elsewere here on stackoverflow asked in different ways), The CLLocationManager has an internal cache that expires after a bit. This means that if you go on Airplane mode and ask for a location, the location manager sends you the most recent it fixed UNTIL it clears the cache after a few minutes (almost 30), then it gives a location error.
Mi crash was because of something else, so the object returned works just fine.

I hope this helps . TLDR
There was a variable much farther down in my code that was nil. Unwrapping THAT variable caused the crash. The compiler was flagging the wrong line which leads to a whole host of confusion.
