will be helpful for those in need , Following is your program:
code :
class C {
    public String cvariable;
    public void cfunction(){
        System.out.println("string");
    }
}

class A {
    public C c1;
    public void funtiona(){
        c1 = new C();
    }
}

public class B extends A {
    public void functionb(){
        c1.cfunction();
    }
    public static void main(String args[]){
        B b = new B();
        b.functionb();
    }
}

I wish did fix the issue. We can't write class without having java.lang.object as superclass. Compiler will automatically extend the object class.Only the object class itself and interfaces are the ones which do not extend object class.
how does java deserialize an object whose class isn't on the classpath but whose superclass is?

it helps some times It simply can't deserialize it. The class must be present in the class path.

I think the issue was by ths following , Because the Object class, in the java.lang package, sits at the top of the class hierarchy tree.
Can you call a method in the SuperClass from a separate class that has the SubClass of said SuperClass as an object?

Does that help You can always create anonymous class that extends Super or a sub class that wont override methodA(). Here is an example of the former approach:
code :
    SuperClass sup= new SuperClass(){};
    sup.methodA();
