With these it helps I'm trying to find the position of all needles in a haystack: , If you want an easy way, you could use preg_match:
code :
foreach ($needles as $needle) {
    if( preg_match_all( '/\b' . $needle . '\b/', $haystack, $matches, PREG_OFFSET_CAPTURE ) ) {
        foreach( $matches[0] as $match )
            $pos[$match[1]] = $needle;
    }
}

hope this fix your issue Use preg_match_all - the needles found in the string will be returned as part of an array.
example
code :
preg_match_all('/\[[0-9]{1,10}\]/i', $string, $matches);

I hope this helps you . I am looking for a way to search a large string for a large number of equal length substrings. , More Pythonic, much faster:
code :
for needle in needles:
    if needle in haystack:
        found.append(needle)

seems to work fine You should take a look at Aho-Corasick algorithm. This suits your problem because it build an automaton of all words(needles) and traverse the text(haystack) over the built automaton to find all matching words. Its basically constructs a finite state machine that resembles a trie.
The time complexity is O(n + m + z) where z is the total number of occurrences of words in text, n is the length of text and m is the total number characters in all words.
