This might help you Based on the provided information you have the choice of several schema designs (with JSON as examples). I've made some assumptions, such as that more than one tank can be on one map and map data is only linked to a single map. You have to tweak it for your needs. I also try to provide some advantages and disadvantages of every solution.
Option #1 (Single collection)
code :
{
  "mapname": "map1",
  "mapfile": "mapfile1",
  "data": {
    "rank": "rank1",
    "color": "color1",
    ...
    "tanks": [
      {
        "name": "tank1",
        ...
        "user": {
          "name": "user1",
          ...
        }
      },
      {
        ...
      }
    ]
  }
}
{
  "id": 1,
  "username": "user1",
  "password": "passwordhash",
  ...
}
{
  "mapname": "map1",
  "mapfile": "mapfile1",
  "data": {
    "rank": "rank1",
    "color": "color1",
    ...
    "tanks": [
      {
        "name": "tank1",
        ...
        "user": userId
        }
      },
      {
        ...
      }
    ]
  }
}
{
  "id": 1,
  "username": "user1",
  "password": "passwordhash",
  ...
}
{
  "name": "tank1",
  ...
  "user": userId
}
{
  "mapname": "map1",
  "mapfile": "mapfile1",
  "data": {
    "rank": "rank1",
    "color": "color1",
    ...
    "tanks": [
      idOfTank1,
      idOfTank2,
      ...
    ]
  }
}

I hope this helps . I will describe what I understand about SoftDeleteColumnDeletionDetectionPolicy in a data source. As the name suggests, it is Soft Delete policy and not the Hard Delete policy. Or in other words, the data is still there in your data source but it is somehow marked as deleted.
Essentially the way it works is periodically Search Service will query the data source and checks for the entries that are deleted by checking the value of the attribute defined in SoftDeleteColumnDeletionDetectionPolicy. So in your case, it will query the DocumentDB collection and find out the documents for which isDeleted attribute's value is true. It then removes the matching documents from the Index.

help you fix your problem You almost have it. The problem is that you are sending in the cubeConfig as a string. It needs to be an object. Here is code that does that:
code :
string cubeConfigString = @"{
    cubeConfig: {
        groupBy: 'publication',
        field: 'pid',
        f: 'count'
    },
    filterQuery: 'SELECT * FROM c'
}";

Object cubeConfig = JsonConvert.DeserializeObject<Object>(cubeConfigString);
Console.WriteLine(cubeConfig);

dynamic result = await client.ExecuteStoredProcedureAsync<dynamic>("dbs/dev-test-database/colls/dev-test-collection/sprocs/cube", cubeConfig);

Console.WriteLine(result.Response);

Any of those help Partition key must be specified as an array (with a single element). For example:
code :
x-ms-documentdb-partitionkey: [ "abc" ]

seems to work fine This is technical allowed, but highly discouraged because you could end up with documents that are not recognizable to MongoDB.
You can have two collections within the same account, one for production using MongoDB and one for learning using DocumentDB. You can also download the DocumentDB emulator where you can test against DocumentDB for free, instead of sharing an account.
