Passing variable into a modal from a script

Passing variable into a modal from a script

it fixes the issue Yes, You are thinking in a right direction. You need to address element in your modal in some way. You can use IDs, classes, some special attributes, etc. Let's use IDs for example. I see you already have ID on modal itself - "myModal" Let's say, on some user action you want to assign value of your variable to textbox on your modal. You would write something like this
code :
<div id="myModal">
...
<input type="text" id="txtUserName"></input>
...
</div>

<script>
  ...
$('#txtUserName',$('#myModal')).val('Jim Smith');
  ...
</script>

it should still fix some issue I'm not sure if I understand well your problem but you probably have to use javascript. Actually It can't work
You should have one modal, and when the client choose a date, put this date in the modal in Javascript or jQuery.
code :
$("td.yourtdclass a" ).on("click", function() {
    var choosen_date = $(this).attr('data-date');
    $('.modal-body').html(choosen_date);
});
 <input id="event-data" type="hidden" name="date" value="" />
$( "td.yourtdclass a" ).on("click", function() {
   var choosen_date = $(this).attr('data-event');
   $('#event-data').val(choosen_date);
});

will help you You're missing the variable in the success method. It should be success:function(ajaxData){} So in all:
code :
    var x = $(this).attr("id");
    $.ajax({
        url: "index.php",
        type: "GET",
        data: {data1: x,},
        success: function (ajaxData) { // ajaxData is the return data from php
            // add the data to the modal
            $("#modal2 .modal-body").html(ajaxData);
            $("#modal2").modal('show');
        }
    });

should help you out There are a few events that are fired when bootstrap modals are created / destroyed.
The one you need is shown.bs.modal that is fired once the modal is shown and all CSS3 animations are complete. By hooking into this event you can add data to the modal's DOM structure.
code :
$(document).on('click', '.openAddCallDialog', function(event)
{
    var _self = $(this),
        id = _self.data('id'),
        conf = _self.data('conf'),
        modalEl = $(_self.attr('href'));

    modalEl.modal('show').one('shown.bs.modal', function(event)
    {
        // This function body is the modal shown event callback
        // You can do anything in this function to modify the DOM
        // within the shown modal.

        var modal = $(this);

        modal.find('#callId').val(callId);

        modal.find('.well').text(conf);
    });;
}

I hope this helps you . Javascript variables and modal box's value of bookId need to be re-defined. A possible use case as below.
Body Code
code :
<a href="#" data-toggle="modal" data-target="#takeaction" class="btn btn-default"></a>
<div class="modal fade" id="takeaction" tabindex="-1" role="dialog" aria-labelledby="myModalLabel">
    <div class="modal-dialog" role="document">
    <div class="modal-content">
    <div class="modal-header">
    <button type="button" class="close" data-dismiss="modal" aria-label="Close"><span aria-hidden="true">&times;</span></button>
    <h4 class="modal-title" id="myModalLabel">Display Apply Id in modal box in a dynamic way? </h4>
    </div>
    <div class="form-inline container hidden-xs hidden-sm">
    <input type="number" value="<?php echo $apply?>" class="form-group" placeholder="Job Code">
    </div>
    <div class="modal-footer">
    <button type="button" class="btn btn-default" data-dismiss="modal"><span>Confirm</span></button>
    </div>
    </div>
    </div>
    </div>
<script type="text/javascript">
$('#takeaction').on('show.bs.modal', function(e) {
var apply = $(e.relatedTarget).data('apply');
$(e.currentTarget).find('input[name="apply"]').val(apply);
});
</script>

fixed the issue. Will look into that further Do not generate content to be sourceed in or evaled unless you're prepared to deal with the security issues involved with same.
It's much safer to write a NUL-delimited stream (the same format that Linux uses to expose environment variable contents in /proc/*/environ):
code :
tempfile=$(mktemp vars.XXXXXX)
for varname in var1 var2; do
  printf '%s=%s\0' "$varname" "${!varname}"
done >"$tempfile"
mv -- "$tempfile" varfile # this is an atomic operation, so you can't have a half-written varfile
while IFS= read -r -d '' assignment; do
  [[ $assignment = *=* ]] || { printf 'ERROR: No = found in %q\n' "$assignment" >&2; continue; }
  var=${assignment%%=*}
  value=${assignment#*=}
  printf -v "$var" %s "$value"
done <varfile
