## Color function to return a shade lighter and a shade darker

this one helps. A good way is to convert it to HSL color space, adjust the "lightness" component, and convert back to RGB.
I found two pages where are mentioned formulas you might use, or you can just try to google a java solution.
code :
``````Y =  (0.257 * R) + (0.504 * G) + (0.098 * B) + 16
V =  (0.439 * R) - (0.368 * G) - (0.071 * B) + 128
U = -(0.148 * R) - (0.291 * G) + (0.439 * B) + 128
``````
``````B = 1.164(Y - 16)                  + 2.018(U - 128)
G = 1.164(Y - 16) - 0.813(V - 128) - 0.391(U - 128)
R = 1.164(Y - 16) + 1.596(V - 128)
``````

## How to shade the circle in canvas

Hope this helps As @danday74 says, you can use a gradient to add depth to your circle.
code :
``````var canvas=document.getElementById("canvas");
var ctx=canvas.getContext("2d");
var PI=Math.PI;
ctx.save();
ctx.strokeStyle='white';
ctx.lineWidth=5;
//
ctx.beginPath();
ctx.arc(cx,cy,r-5,0,PI*2);
ctx.clip();
//
ctx.beginPath();
ctx.arc(cx,cy,r,0,PI*2);
ctx.stroke();
//
ctx.beginPath();
ctx.arc(cx,cy,r-strokewidth,0,PI*2);
ctx.stroke();
//
ctx.beginPath();
ctx.arc(cx,cy,r-strokewidth,0,PI*2);
ctx.fillStyle='white'
ctx.fill();
//
ctx.restore();
}``````
``````body{ background-color: white; }
canvas{border:1px solid red; margin:0 auto; }``````
``<canvas id="canvas" width=300 height=300></canvas>``

``````
``````circles.on("click", function (d) {
d3.selectAll('.allCircles').style('fill','black'); //fill all circles black
d3.select(this).style("fill", "lightcoral"); //then fill this circle lightcoral

## Need to get different Grey color shade randomly using jquery

By : Zmaj

Any of those help rgb(x,x,x) is gray. Replace x with a random number and you will get different gray colors. Range is rgb(0, 0, 0)(black) - rgb(255,255,255)(white). Examples could be: rgb(5,5,5) or rgb(111,111,111) or rgb(99,99,99).
