help you fix your problem You are having problems because \s matches many kinds of spaces including the newline character which you do not want to match. You are seeing errors because you are using regex features that the js regular expression engine you have in your browser does not support.
To preserve newlines, try just using \x20 instead of \s, i.e. matching the exact character for the word space and not just generic whitespace. It should be sufficient to simply do:
code :
  $('textarea[name="yaml"]').val().replace(/\x20*:\x20*/g, " : ")

This might help you Simply work out what you want the types to be (which may vary by your database) and use a dictionary:
code :
static reaodnly Dictionary<string, Type> NameToTypeMap =
new Dictionary<string, Type>
    { "uniqueidentifier", typeof(Guid) },
    { "timestamp", typeof(DateTimeOffset) },
    { "image", typeof(byte[]) },
    // etc
static Dictionary<string, Type> NameToTypeMap = GetTypeMap();

private static Dictionary<string, Type> GetTypeMap()
    Dictionary<string, Type> ret = new Dictionary<string, Type>();
    ret["uniqueidentifier"] = typeof(Guid);
    ret["timestamp"] = typeof(DateTimeOffset);
    ret["image"] = typeof(byte[]);
    // etc
    return ret;
Why are all of my line-breaks changing from "/r/n" to "/n/" and how can I stop this from happening?

wish of those help You can use XmlWriterSettings to control what your line-break characters are:
code :
XmlWriterSettings xws = new XmlWriterSettings();
xws.NewLineChars = "\r\n";
using (XmlWriter xw = XmlWriter.Create("whatever.xml", xws))
How do I read in lines of a text file when the line breaks are "/r" instead of "/n"?

wish helps you Well, you could certainly play around with doing some sort of substitution with a regex in OCaml... For example, you could read in the whole file into a string and do the substitution. However, if your textfile doesn't change (and I'm guessing that it doesn't in this case as it's just a big list of adjectives) I would use my text editor's search and replace facilities to do the replace in the textfile itself, as opposed to trying to do it in your OCaml program.
If you have dos2unix installed you could use that to do the translation. You could also use something like this:
code :
perl -pi -e 's/\r/\n/' filename
.Net RegEx match pattern "aebecea" / "aebeceb"/ "aebecec" / "beceaec"

.Net RegEx match pattern "aebecea" / "aebeceb"/ "aebecec" / "beceaec"

around this issue You're getting the first match of [abc][e] in the first group, but you want to wrap some parens around the entire group you're capturing. Also, you can use ?: to make the inner group non-capturing. This should give the result you're looking for:
code :
using "file" and then "foreach" results in line breaks between values

it helps some times use $value = trim($value, "\r\n"); as first line in your loop
the problem is because at the end of value you already have \n symbol
