32-bit Unicode strings in Neo4j

32-bit Unicode strings in Neo4j

I wish did fix the issue. At this time (as of 2.2.0-M02 and all previous releases), Cypher only supports the \u literal with 16 bit unicode.
The Neo4j 2.2.0 GA release will contain support for UTF-32 literals, using the upper case \Uxxxxxxxx form.

this one helps. Have you tried (note the 'u' before the string, which turns it to Unicode):
for(path, dirs, files) in os.walk(u"C:/corpus/zz-auto generated/spanish/comer"):

wish helps you From your description of the problem, it sounds like vocab is an encoded str object, not a unicode object.
For concreteness, suppose vocab equals u'債務の天井' encoded in utf-8:
code :
In [42]: v=u'債務の天井'
In [43]: vocab=v.encode('utf-8')   # val['text']
Out[43]: '\xe5\x82\xb5\xe5\x8b\x99\xe3\x81\xae\xe5\xa4\xa9\xe4\xba\x95'
In [45]: for v in u'債務の天井':
   ....:     print(v)
債
務
の
天
井
In [49]: u'債'.encode('utf-8')
Out[49]: '\xe5\x82\xb5'
vocab=val['text'].decode('utf-8')
print(repr(vocab))

hope this fix your issue Where ever you decoded the original string, it was likely decoded with latin-1 or a close relative. Since latin-1 is the first 256 codepoints of Unicode, this works:
code :
>>> s = u'Gaga\xe2\x80\x99s'
>>> s.encode('latin-1').decode('utf8')
u'Gaga\u2019s'

I wish did fix the issue. I have a list with both unicode and float values: , Can't you do:
code :
[x.encode('utf-8') if isinstance(x, str) else x for x in items]
