may help you . I have a div called starRating which displays 5 grayed-out stars. I am given a number and based on that number I need to add a css class that changes the grayed-out star to the colored one. Is this something I would accomplish in a for loop or with .each? , Simple as this,
code :
$('#starRating div:lt('+nbrStarsVoted+')').addClass('jquery-ratings-full');

will help you I'm trying to add a new node with a variable number of child elements based on the existence of other elements elsewhere in the XML document. Here's a simplified example of what I'm starting with: , You can adjust your XSLT as follows:
code :
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<xsl:stylesheet version="2.0"
     xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform"
     xmlns:xs="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"
     xmlns:fn="http://www.w3.org/2005/xpath-functions"
     xmlns:xdt="http://www.w3.org/2005/xpath-datatypes"
     exclude-result-prefixes="xs fn xdt">
<xsl:output method="xml" version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"
     omit-xml-declaration="yes" indent="yes"/>

<xsl:template match="@*|node()">
    <xsl:copy>
        <xsl:apply-templates select="@*|node()"/>
    </xsl:copy>
</xsl:template>

<xsl:template match="Parent">

wish of those help I think what you want to do can be achieved using css pseudo elements :not() :first-child and :last-child. I have created a sample using your code. Is this what you are looking to do?

like below fixes the issue The Worker wants to be aware when Child require its attention
This looks like an Observer pattern, where Worker can GetFaulty(Child faulty) while Child wants to Notify
code :
public class Child
{
    // some code

    public Worker Parent { get; set; }

    // This is called when the process fails
    public void Notify()
    {
        Parent.GetFaulty(this);
    }

    // more code
}

public class Worker
{
    private List<Child> subscriptions = new List<Child>();

    public void Subscribe(string pID)
    {
        Child temp = new Child { Parent = this };
        subscriptions.Add(temp);
    }

    public void GetFaulty(Child faulty)
    {
        subscriptions.Remove(faulty);
    }
}
