help you fix your problem Normally simpleXML or DOMDocument would be better for XML, but for this regex is OK. If there is always zid= then something like:
code :
file_put_contents($filename,
    preg_replace('/ zid=[^>]+>/', '>', file_get_contents($filename)));
file_put_contents($filename,
    preg_replace('/<product[^>]+>/', '>', file_get_contents($filename)));

this one helps. try the BFG instead of git filter-branch...
You can use a much more friendly substitution format if you use The BFG rather than git-filter-branch. Create a passwords.txt file, with one password per line like this:
code :
PASSWORD1==>xXxXx # Replace literal string 'PASSWORD1' with 'xXxXx'
ezxcdf\fr$sdd%==>xXxXx # ...all text is matched as a *literal* string by default
$ java -jar bfg.jar -fi '*.php' --replace-text passwords.txt  my-repo.git

I wish did fix the issue. My df column includes strings that have additional characters in parenthesis and square brackets at the end of some strings, for those strings I'd like to delete the parenthesis, square brackets and all characters contained within. , Does that help?
code :
import re
before = "2369        EMILIA MEL [5]Res."
after = re.sub(r"\[.*", "", before).strip()
print(before)
print(after)
2369        EMILIA MEL [5]Res.
2369        EMILIA MEL
import re
before = [
    "2369        EMILIA MEL [5]Res.",
    "2360      DYNA REAVER (NSW)[5]"
]
after = [re.sub(r"(\(|\[).*", "", b).strip() for b in before]
print(before)
print(after)
['2369        EMILIA MEL [5]Res.', '2360      DYNA REAVER (NSW)[5]']
['2369 EMILIA MEL', '2360 DYNA REAVER']
import pandas as pd
import re

df = pd.DataFrame({"before": [
    "CROSS THREADED",
    "ALL ABOUT ARBY [5]Res.",
    "EMILIA MEL [5]Res.",
    "DYNA REAVER (NSW)[5]",
    "PARTY MIX [5]",
]})

df["after"] = df["before"].apply(
    lambda s: re.sub(r"(\(|\[).*", "", s).strip())
print(df)
                   before           after
0          CROSS THREADED  CROSS THREADED
1 ALL ABOUT ARBY [5]Res. ALL ABOUT ARBY
2 EMILIA MEL [5]Res. EMILIA MEL
3 DYNA REAVER (NSW)[5] DYNA REAVER
4 PARTY MIX [5] PARTY MIX
df["after"] = df["before"].str.replace(r"( )*(\(|\[).*", "")

This might help you Here you go, see if this fits your requirements.
Basically, you're just splitting on the '_' character and testing if the last split in the list is in your blacklist. If True, then drop it, if False put the string back together; and build a new list from the results.
code :
blacklist = ['_001', '_002', '_003', '_004', '_005', '_006', '_007', '_008',
             '_01', '_02', '_03', '_04', '_05', '_06', '_07', '_08', '_09',
             '_1', '_2', '_3', '_4', '_5', '_6', '_7', '_8', '_9']
sample = ['sample_A', 'sample_A_001', 'sample_A_002', 'my_long_sample_B_1',
          'other_sample_C_08', 'sample_A_03', 'sample1_D_07']
results = []

for i in sample:
    splt = i.split('_')
    value = '_'.join(splt[:-1]) if '_{}'.format(splt[-1:][0]) in blacklist else '_'.join(splt)
    results.append(value)

print(results)
['sample_A', 'sample_A', 'sample_A', 'my_long_sample_B', 'other_sample_C', 'sample_A', 'sample1_D']

will help you Provided that your input data is in the form of a list, you can try the following to meet your requirements:
code :
inputlist = Your_list_to_be_corrected #Assign your input list here

# Now, remove the rows in the list that have the format "Name: 0, dtype: object""
inputlist = [ x for x in inputlist if "dtype: object" not in x ]

#Now, correct the rows containing GAME_ID by removing the int number and special characters
sep = 'GAME_ID'
for index, element in enumerate(inputlist):
    if "GAME_ID" in element:
        inputlist[index] = 'GAME_ID' + element.split(sep, 1)[1]
