it helps some times The problem was related to the way client certificates were signed. They were signed using server_ca_extensions instead of using client_ca_extensions.

To fix this issue There is more checking than just the signature. The certificate authority that produced the signature must be validated, among other things. Java's list of trusted certificate authorities is different than your browser's. You may need to download the CA cert with your browser and install it with Java's keytool.

may help you . The issue was not in that code, but rather with the path to my Keycert I was using the Server Certificate rather than the Client Certificate.

I wish did fix the issue. I was missing the fact that the client's certificate has to be generated by the server via a Certificate Signing Request (CSR).

This might help you Just use Erlang Version 17.4, 18.1 or 18.2. I suspect a bug in Erlang as there is another that had issues:
https://bugs.erlang.org/browse/ERL-259, ticket is resolved but there is no confirmation of it being fixed from anyone.
