I hope this helps you . As per the screenshot it seems like you are filtering the transactions based on the containerType= 'stocks', this will return transactions for all the investment accounts for that user. Also, you are passing the itemAccountId.identifier which is for a specific account.
It would be great if you check followings:

Order of transactions returned by Braintree API

Order of transactions returned by Braintree API

To fix this issue I work at Braintree. If you want more detailed help than we can give on Stack Overflow, please get in touch with our support team.
Yes, they'll always be returned in that order. Unfortunately, this doesn't appear to be documented under customer details, possibly because the transactions method isn't supported in all of our client libraries. We'll check it out and add it to our docs if possible -- thanks for bringing it to our attention.

I wish this helpful for you As I mentioned in my original comment, this is an undocumented feature, but take a look at using _clearTrans after _trackTrans. As the name suggests it clears out all of the current ecommerce data (items and transactions).
Modifying your example would end up looking like this..:
code :
var _gaq = _gaq || [];
_gaq.push(['_setAccount', 'UA-XXXXXXXX-X']); /* REPLACE WITH YOUR OWN ACCOUNT ID */
_gaq.push(['_setDomainName', 'none']); /* Must be set to none when running from localhost, but normally set to auto in Prod */
_gaq.push(['_setAllowLinker', false]); /* set to true in Prod but doesn't seem to have any effect on the issue */

(function() {
    var ga = document.createElement('script'); ga.type = 'text/javascript'; ga.async = true;
    ga.src = ('https:' == document.location.protocol ? 'https://ssl' : 'http://www') + '.google-analytics.com/u/ga_debug.js';
    var s = document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0]; s.parentNode.insertBefore(ga, s);
})();

var orderId = 1;
var sku = 200;
makePurchase = function() {
    console.group('New Purchase');
    _gaq.push(['_trackPageview', '/purchase/complete']);
    console.log("Tracking purchase for order with id " + orderId + " and SKU " + sku);
    _gaq.push(['_addTrans', orderId, 'Acme Clothing', '11.99', '1.29' , '5', 'San Joes', 'California', 'USA']);
    _gaq.push(['_addItem', orderId, sku, 'T-Shirt', 'Green Medium', '11.99', '1']);
    _gaq.push(['_trackTrans']);
    _gaq.push(['_clearTrans']); // Clear Transaction data
    incrementOrderIds();
    console.groupEnd();
}

var incrementOrderIds = function() {
    orderId = orderId + 1;
    sku = sku + 10;
}

help you fix your problem As suggested by Gocht in the comments under the question, a solution in Django 1.4 is using @transaction.commit_on_success(). The code could be something like this:
code :
from django.db import models
from django.db import transaction

class MyModel(models.Model):
    # model definition

    @transaction.commit_on_success()
    def save(self, *args, **kwargs):
        try:
            super(MyModel, self).save(*args, **kwargs)
            do_other_things()
            obj2 = MySecondModel(mymodel = self, foo = "bar")
            obj2.save()
        except:
            print 'exception'
            raise
        else:
            print 'job done'

class MySecondModel(models.Model):
    myModelId = models.ForeignKey(MyModel)
    # other fields defining this model
Does Plaid transactions call bring back transactions for all connected accounts? or just 1 account?

I hope this helps you . Plaid access tokens work institution wise, unless you enabled the option of account selection in linking process. If you had done so, for example, if the user selected Bank A , and then selected saving account while also having a checking account, you will get only saving account information. Otherwise, you should be able to load all accounts information from the same bank. Some limitations apply as for example credit accounts from a specific bank may not be available to Plaid , then you will have no access to such accounts in both cases.

hope this fix your issue Pseudo code (language agnostic):
There is an alternative url construct that returns json via a querystring. The querystring has a start and end date.
code :

import requests

for year in range(2001, 2018, 2):

    print(len(r['transaction_all']['queryResults']['row'])) # just to demonstrate response content
