will help you I am not sure, why do you think that capistrano should run your task on rails server command. Capistrano serves for deploy purposes and unrelated to your local rails server starting. By including
code :
require "whenever/capistrano"
run "cd /Users/affinities/Desktop/my_app && bundle exec whenever --update-crontab --set environment=development"

hope this fix your issue Well, I found a work around without using the configuration at all.
It seems that you can set a couple of tasks outside a namespace like this
code :
desc "Use UserA's git repository"
task :usera do
  set :repository,  "git@github.com:UserA/MyApp.git"
  set :scm_user,  "UserA"

desc "Use UserB's git repository"
task :userb do
  set :repository,  "git@github.com:UserB/MyApp.git"
  set :scm_user,  "UserB"
$ cap usera deploy
/usr/bin/env ruby no such file or directory: Using capistrano 3, capistrano/rbenv, capistrano/bundler and capistrano/rai

it should still fix some issue I'm using capistrano, capistrano/rbenv, capistrano/bundler and capistrano/rails. I get this error in the step where capistrano compiles the assets: , Ok, fixed it.
I added this:
code :
set :default_env, { path: "~/.rbenv/shims:~/.rbenv/bin:$PATH" }

it should still fix some issue When deploying with Capistrano and use it to start the puma server you just include require 'puma/capistrano' and it does the magic when using cap deploy etc. , Solution: Found this in puma/capistrano.rb
code :
def config_file
    @_config_file ||= begin
      file = fetch(:puma_config_file, nil)
      file = "./config/puma/#{puma_env}.rb" if !file && File.exists?("./config/puma/#{puma_env}.rb")
Capistrano and XSendFile configuration

Capistrano and XSendFile configuration

Does that help I finally managed to make it work. A few tips for the ones who will have problems with XSendFile
I set XSendFilePath to user's $HOME, there are no symlinks on the path to $HOME, so it works. I can accept this from functional and security point of view, but it is obviously a workaround. Be aware that XSendFilePath is sensitive to paths containing multiple slashes /like//this. I am using apache macros and while concatenatingXSendFilePath parameter from a few macro parameters I put some obsolete slashes. This caused XSendFile to refuse to send files.
