Think that you uploaded a picture into your profile and tag someone, other people who look at your pic with different devices should see the tag in the exactly same place.

wish of those help I had the same issue, needed to draw a coin in the exact size it is in real life. Each device should report it's proper DPI, but some (few) devices just provide wrong data. I ended up allowing users to resize the image manually.

hop of those help? Ok, I looked at more examples and realised that they all use gl.glOrthof() rather than GLU.gluPerspective()
So I replaced the GLU.gluPerspective() line with the following
code :
gl.glOrthof(0f,1f,0f,1f,-1f,1f);
private float vertices[]={
            1.0f,0.0f,0.0f,  //V1 Bottom left
            0.0f,0.0f,0.0f,   //V2 top left
            1.0f,1.0f,0.0f,   //V3 bottom right
            0.0f,1.0f,0.0f     //V4 top right
    };

To fix this issue I think what you are looking for is the DisplayMetrics class. It has fields heightPixels and widthPixels which give screen dimensions, as well as other useful information like pixel density.
As mentioned in the documentation, you can get the DisplayMetrics for your device using getWindowManager().getDefaultDisplay().getMetrics(metrics);
