will be helpful for those in need I would not recommend that many different colours (if only because each colour after the first needs a separate rule!) and don't really see the point of D2 for the CF - unless you plan to have a separate set of 12 colours for each year? However, I think what you request is a plethora of formulae like:
code :
=and(year(A1)=D$2,month(A1)=1)

around this issue Try using TEXT function, e.g. like this
=B2=MAX(IF(TEXT(A$2:A$2600,"mm-yyyy")=TEXT(A2,"mm-yyyy"),B$2:B$2600))

around this issue In Excel 2013 I'm trying to conditionally format a range of values representing Australian dates (dd.mm.yyyy) with periods as delimiters. The values are all formatted as General. , This is my attempt. You may try.
code :
Public Sub test()

    Dim Mnow As String
    Dim Ynow As String
    Dim Finalstring As String

    Ynow = Year(Now)
    Mnow = Month(Now) + 1

    If Mnow < 10 Then
        Mnow = "0" & Mnow
    Else
        Mnow = Mnow
    End If

    Finalstring = Mnow & "." & Ynow

    Sheets("MM All").Select
    Cells(1, 1).Select

    Range(Selection, Selection.End(xlToRight)).Select
    Range(Selection, Selection.End(xlDown)).Select

    Selection.FormatConditions.Add Type:=xlTextString, String:=Finalstring, _
        TextOperator:=xlContains
    Selection.FormatConditions(Selection.FormatConditions.Count).SetFirstPriority

    With Selection.FormatConditions(1).Font
        .Bold = True
        .Italic = False
        .Color = -16711681
        .TintAndShade = 0
    End With

    With Selection.FormatConditions(1).Interior
        .PatternColorIndex = xlAutomatic
        .ThemeColor = xlThemeColorLight1
        .TintAndShade = 0
    End With

    Selection.FormatConditions(1).StopIfTrue = False

End Sub

will be helpful for those in need I am using LEFT JOIN table calendar to bring months columns even if there is no data for some of the months. It works if I say tblCalendar.Year = 2016 so it will bring me all 12 month for current year. But I need data a year from the end of current month. So I am using data range
code :
  WHERE   ( b.YearNum = YEAR(GETDATE())-1 and b.MonthNum >= MONTH(GETDATE())+1 ) OR
          ( b.YearNum = YEAR(GETDATE()) and b.MonthNum <= MONTH(GETDATE()) )

should help you out You can achieve this with the following formulas.
Note the formula names, because they are partly dependent on each other.
code :
DateAdd("m", -1, {@DOCDATE})
Date(Year({@prevMonth}), Month({@prevMonth}), 1)
Date(DateAdd("d", -1, Date(Year({@DOCDATE}), Month({@DOCDATE}), 1)))
CStr({@startDate}) & " to " & CStr({@endDate})
