fixed the issue. Will look into that further The %r format causes Python to print using the repr function. So the following are equivalent:
code :
"%r" % my_string ≡ "%s" % repr(my_string)
"Don't" ≡ 'Don\'t'

PS C:\Users\Administrator> write-output -inputobject 'My favorite color is $mycolor'
My favorite color is $mycolor

will be helpful for those in need I checked the documentation and found no reference for single/double-quote option.
I think your only recourse is print etree.tostring(n).replace('"', "'")
code :
from lxml import etree
n = etree.Element('test')
n.set('id', "Zach's not-so-good answer")
<test id='Zach's not-so-good answer'></test>
<test id='Zach's not-so-good answer'></test>

"'a'"
""a""
'"a"'

fixed the issue. Will look into that further That single and double quotes are generally equivalent in R (like they are e.g. in Python) is irrelevant, the parsing problem occurs on the YAML level.
You don't need to quote scalars in YAML, but if you do, you need to know that double quoted style scalars (") require escaping:

this will help in scala single quote denotes a char so split('|') uses the | char. When you use double quotes you use a string and specifically split can accept a regex string so the unescaped | inside a string is interpreted as the regex or
