wish help you to fix your issue Okay as you have said the background shape changes when using setBackgroundColor, i think here's what you want,
1.you might be interested in color filters like this
code :
Button btn = (Button) findViewById(R.id.button1);
btn.getBackground().setColorFilter(new LightingColorFilter(0xFFFFFFFF, 0xFFAA0000));
btn.getBackground().setColorFilter(0xFFFF0000, PorterDuff.Mode.MULTIPLY);
btn.getBackground().setColorFilter(0xFF00FF00, PorterDuff.Mode.MULTIPLY);

I wish this help you You can use toggle method. Attach it to button and then create two functions that will be call altenate:
code :
    $("#nrOne").css({ "background-color": "#000000" });
}, function(){
    $("#nrOne").css({ "background-color": "#FF0000" });
var t = true;
        t = false;
        $("#nrOne").css({ "background-color": "#000000" });
        t = true;

Hope this helps Your biggest problem is document.write("

Undo Selection

"); => this will clear your page. Second problem is incorrect code => button4 was not inited, so nothing done, when clicked. count variable does nothing. And your css button4 not used here. + read answer from @Anima-t3d
code :
function changemyButton()
  var elem = document.getElementById("button3");
  if (elem.value == "Un-Select Package")
    elem.value = "Select This Package";
  else if( elem.value == "Package Selected!" ) {
      elem.value = "Select This Package";
       elem.style.background = "red";
  } else {
    elem.value = "Package Selected!";
    elem.style.background = "green";

.button4 {

  text-shadow: 0px 1px 0px rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.3);

This might help you I have an android project where i need to use a switch. I am using a Button for this. I have two images one for on state and another for off state. Initially i am giving "off_image" as background of Button. When the user clicks the button the background should change to "on_image" and when again the user clicks it should change back to "off_image". , OK, save a global var lastImageResource.
code :
int lastImageResource= R.id.off_image;
if(lastImageResource  == (R.id.off_image)){
        lastImageResource = R.id.on_image;
if(lastImageResource  == (R.id.on_image)){
        lastImageResource = R.id.off_image;
