fixed the issue. Will look into that further Not sure what type of Window in a server context you mean. But typically you need to ensure there is no reference anymore (i.e. you do not store it in a session object).
In addition to that you can make the window.close() method null all fields. So in case the references to the Window is not nulled in time, at least the content can be garbage collected early.
code :
class Controller {
  Window window;
  void closeWindow() {
    window.close(); // drops image (optional)
    window = null; // frees object reference
  }
}

help you fix your problem Simply put you need to destroy the thread as well as terminate it. Add a call to Free immediately after you terminate the thread.
code :
destructor TMaster.Destroy;
begin
  FSlaveList.free;
  DeallocateHWnd(fMsgHandlerHWND);
  if assigned(Fslave_search_thread) then
    Fslave_search_thread.terminate;
  Fslave_search_thread.Free;
  inherited;
end;

Does that help You can set the default close operation to DO_NOTHING_ON_CLOSE and ask the user for a confirmation instead. It's a pretty common practice even if you want to close the frame through the X button, key combination (i.e.: ALT + F4) or any method to close a window:
code :
JFrame frame = new JFrame("Welcome!");
frame.setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.DO_NOTHING_ON_CLOSE);

frame.addWindowListener(new WindowAdapter() {
    @Override
    public void windowClosing(WindowEvent e) {
        int option = JOptionPane.showConfirmDialog(null, "Do you really want to exit?");
        if (option == JOptionPane.OK_OPTION) {
            e.getWindow().dispose();
        }
    }
});

around this issue Finally the bellow code with some modifications in my view code and .js file worked for me:
_doctorselect.html.erb
code :
<%= form_tag (assignreffaral_practices_path), id: "myform", method: 'get', remote: true  do |f| %>
<div class="modal-dialog ">
  <div class="modal-content modal-md">
    <div class="modal-header">
      <button type="button" class="close" data-dismiss="modal" aria-hidden="true">×</button>
      <h4 class=" glyphicon glyphicon-pencil"> Add/Edit/Remove Referral to: Dr.<%= @Practitioner_name %></h4>
    </div>
      <div class="modal-body">
              <div class="btn-group">
                  <table class="table ld-margin-top-20">
                    <thead>
                    <tr>
                        <td>
                            <!-- Single button -->
                            <%= collection_select(:customer, :id, @practices, :id, :full_name, {:prompt => 'Remove Referral' }, :class =>"form-control") %>
                        </td>

                        <td>

                          <button type="submit" onclick="window.location = '/practices'" class="btn btn-success">Submit</button>

                        </td>

                        <td>
                            <button class="btn btn-danger" id="doctor" data-dismiss="modal" aria-hidden="true">Cancel</button>
                        </td>

                    </tr>
                    </thead>
                </table>
              </div>
        </div>

fixed the issue. Will look into that further The unload and beforeunload events obviously got removed from the list of event listener breakpoints in Firefox 69 due to causing bugs within the Debugger panel. See https://bugzil.la/1569775 for more info.
So it seems there is currently (as of Firefox 72) no way to halt the script execution on those events and you have to wait until the aforementioned bug is fixed.

To fix the issue you can do It does not matter that you create the Windows on the fly. If you can create them then you can bind such handler. If the code which Alex Gyoshev shared is not fine.
You can bind a handler initially like this:
