may help you . 1. Yes - thats exactly what happens 2. undefined (usually you initialize the value in the controller) 3. Not for major releases - you can change between angular versions in the demo below , by clicking the "add library button" - no difference
Here is a working demo - http://jsbin.com/mazidutoxi/1/edit?html,js,console,output

should help you out It has nothing to do with scope.$watch. It is because your model itself goes null because you have input type as email and comma is an invalid character for an email, as the data is invalid it will go blank (You can test this by printing the value of ng-model on the view {{mailToAdd.email}}). You may want to have to convert it to textbox. Or you may have to set ng-model-options allowInvalid flag to true. But with this if you want to validate email you may have to perform custom validation.
i.e
code :
 ng-model-options="{'allowInvalid':true}
'use strict';
angular.module('demoApp', [])
  .controller('mainController',
        ['$scope',
            function ($scope) {

                $scope.mailToAdd = {email: ""};

                $scope.$watch('mailToAdd.email', function(val){
                    console.log(val);
                   $scope.watched= val;

                });
 }]
);
<script src="https://cdnjs.cloudflare.com/ajax/libs/angular.js/1.4.3/angular.min.js"></script>
<div ng-app="demoApp" ng-controller="mainController">
   <br/>
  Value to observe: <input ng-model="mailToAdd.email" ng-model-options="{'allowInvalid':true}" type="email" />
  {{mailToAdd.email}}
  <br/>
  <br/>
  Value watched: <input ng-model="watched" type="text" />
</div>

will help you You're writing a chrome app, however chrome.tabs.* api can be only accessed by chrome extensions. That's why you got the error.

To fix the issue you can do In a strict environment this inside a function will be undefined.
For the global object in a browser, use window.
code :
'use strict';

(function () {
  console.log(this);

  window.foo = 'bar';
  console.log(window.foo);
}());
'use strict';

(new function () {
  this.foo = 'bar';
  console.log(this.foo);
}());

I hope this helps you . My environment is currently graphql-yoga with prisma. When attempting to run queries I am faced with "Cannot read property 'query' of undefined" error. I am assuming this is because it cannot read it from the context , You are exporting the Prisma instance as the default export:
code :
export { prisma as default }
import prisma from './prisma/prisma'

should help you out as your button is "outside" of mat-sidenav-container you can use ViewChild
code :
//In component.ts
@ViewChild('sidenav') sidenav:any;
toggleSidenav()
  {
    this.sidenav.toggle();
    console.log(this.sidenav.toggle);
  }

//In your .html
<button mat-icon-button (click)="toggleSidenav()" value="sidebarclosed">
